If you get into the main draw of a Grand Slam, then you've made your mark and proved that's where you belong.
Playing in a main draw Grand Slam is something you dream about as a kid.
Twenty days ago my physio asked me if I was if I never think that I can win a Grand Slam or be in final of Grand Slam, and I said no.
I'm not the first player to have their home Grand Slam and not perform. There have been a few Australians and French players, you name it. It's a tough thing. But it is one of those things. Would I rather have a Grand Slam in my country than not? I would.
I'm not that good a player, and I'll be the first to admit that. I might be a three or four grand-slam winner; I might be a two grand-slam winner, I don't know.
I always had hopes of being a big star. But as you get older, you aim a little lower. Everybody wants to make an impression, some mark upon the world. Then you think, you've made a mark on the world if you just get through it, and a few people remember your name. Then you've left a mark. You don't have to bend the whole world. I think it's better to just enjoy it. Pay your dues, and just enjoy it. If you shoot a arrow and it goes real high, hooray for you.
If I ever get the chance to win a grand slam, I think only then will I feel the feeling of being really, really happy.
I obviously want to win a grand slam, but whatever I do, however long I play, I hope I sustain a really long career, a healthy one, just a pretty consistent career. I obviously want to win a grand slam.
You substitute certain things from your own personal life to get you to that mental place and that emotional state. At that time [Brian Robbins] went for the home run, the grand slam [in "Hardball"].
It doesn't always work out that you win a tournament and then a Grand Slam, but I'm happy to have the confidence.
Everyone is fighting like crazy because it's the last Grand Slam. When you play the Grand Slams, you just have to give everything you have.
In tennis it's easy to get greedy - and one Grand Slam doesn't feel enough any more.
Yeah, certainly you want to try to save your energy at a Grand Slam.
I've been there, done that. I know what the emotions are getting into your first Grand Slam final.
I draw because words are too unpredictable. I draw because words are too limited. If you speak and write in English, or Spanish, or Chinese, or any other language, then only a certain percentage of human beings will get your meaning. But when you draw a picture everybody can understand it. If I draw a cartoon of a flower, then every man, woman, and child in the world can look at it and say, "That's a flower.
The guy comes up to the plate, there's always a chance where he can get a grand slam and everybody forgets about all the times he missed.
I prefer the Grand Slam than the No. 1, but still, to get No. 1, not many players did that, so it's going to be very important for me.
