It can be really lonely running for office, especially if you've never done it before and especially when all the normal channels of power are basically closed to you.
The International Control Commission isn't doing anything, it's never done anything. What good does it do to be on it or not? Before opening the embassy in Hanoi, I gave it a lot of thought, but it wasn't really a painful decision. American policy in Vietnam is what it is, in Saigon the situation is anything but normal, and I'm happy to have done what I did.
You create a friendship on a level that you've never done before. The basic kind of experience is to basically give love to total strangers all the time, and that really changed everything in me. And this piece transformed me more than any other one before. I saw my entire life differently. What do I have to do? What is my passion on this planet? I'm much more focused than I ever was before.
I have a message for any young woman who is thinking about running for office and has ever attended a costume party... or done anything stupid on camera. Run for office. Fight for this country.
I've never believed in running for office so you can eventually run for some other office.
If you ask people where they go when they really need to get work done, very few will respond 'the office.' If they do say the office, they'll include a qualifier such as 'super-early in the morning before anyone gets in,' or 'I stay late at night after everyone's left,' or 'I sneak in on the weekend.'
I feel like if we're not running, we're basically disrespecting our bodies. When you're running, you're really using your body for what it's meant to do.
I don't believe I should be out running for another office instead of running my office.
No one really wants to admit they are lonely, and it is never really addressed very much between friends and family. But I have felt lonely many times in my life.
You know, I could run for governor but I'm basically a media creation. I've never done anything. I've worked for my dad. I worked in the oil business. But that's not the kind of profile you have to have to get elected to public office.
The first mistake is believing that transformational initiatives can be accomplished through normal channels and means. This cannot be done because there are too many conflicting interests that are competing to impede. The second is mistaking incubation for transformation and concluding that failure to achieve escape velocity is due to lack of innovation. It never is. It is always do to lack of leadership focus and, especially, fortitude.
I have never really done any teaching and maybe I should have done. I am not power-mad enough.
I was inspired by comedy channels. I loved that they got to do sketches and could be funny and crude and make people laugh. But most of those channels, if not all of them, were done by guys.
Power is lonely. Power stands apart. I have power. Therefore, I'm lonely.
For me, ‘Dog Days’ symbolizes apocalyptic euphoria, chaotic freedom and running really, really fast with your eyes closed.
It was fun. I'd never done anything like that. I'd never done any bi-sexual or lesbian scenes before, but it was really fun.
When we have a lot of the running, which we do on green screen, that is actually the hardest... I swear I have, like, four separate scenes in a row running, and I'd only done one at a time before.
