One of the problems that we face through the media attention that these artists receive is that there has been an awful lot of talk about opera and classical music being elite and being for an elitist group.

What is interesting to me, as I travel, is that exactly the same agenda is being implemented in every country I travel to. Because people from different countries don't talk to each other and the international media are being used to bring about the changes desired by the global elite, nobody realizes this.

Although - I often talk about costs and benefits - it seems to me the costs of reading Finnegans Wake are not worth the benefits, however many there may be. And it's the same with the more arcane among poets, Zukofsky and so on.
A lot of the things I've done for charity and the money I've given will never be talked about in the media. I'd rather it be that way, because I don't do it for the media. Of course, having celebrities and media there at events helps bring attention to the need, but seeing the looks on peoples' faces when they receive help is why I really do it.
