Most people don't know how to take compliments. That's the biggest problem in America - we're hesitant to give compliments and embarrassed at getting them.
I don't trust compliments. I've been getting them for years. Sometimes I deserve them, sometimes I didn't. But generally when people give you compliments there's one of two things wrong with them. Either they're false, or what's worse is they're sincere. They really mean the compliment. And then they're offering you their loyalty. And I'm kind of a stingy... Well, I don't necessarily want to give all that loyalty back. So either way, let's skip the compliments.

He compliments me all the time, and when your best friend compliments you, it gives you confidence and makes you want to do stuff in life.
I would not want compliments that 'I can do different roles'. I want compliments that whatever I did, I did nicely. That's how I see acting.
A man once said that the pinnacle of success Is when you've finally lost interest In money, compliments, and publicity A noble enough idea, I suppose How on earth he does this, heaven only knows I know I need a lot more of all three of those Before I ever have the nerve to turn up my nose At any money, compliments, and publicity.
The kindest compliments I have ever heard are when cops tell me Training Day and Assault on Precinct 13 inspired them to become cops. The funniest compliments I have ever heard are when people tell me that 'I love your band Sugar Ray.
Compliments make me vain: & when I am vain, I am insolent & overbearing. It is a pity, too, because I love compliments. I love them even when they are not so. My child, I can live on a good compliment two weeks with nothing else to eat.
I love compliments; of course I do. Everybody wants to receive compliments. But the team is the important thing, and I'd rather win things as a team than finish up with individual honours.

I've got the public. I don't care about the critics. I did at one time. I don't any more. I did when I needed compliments. But if you get a lot of compliments, you don't need a critic to tell you, 'This should be done another way.'
People give out compliments because it's polite.
When people talk about my charm or looks, it is very flattering. Of course, every woman likes compliments, but I don't take them too seriously.
One of my obsessions in life is that we have the tools to manufacture moments and real things, but it's overwhelming and there's a lot of fear and you think maybe you'll be rejected or embarrassed or somehow hurt emotionally. So we don't do the things we know we can do, but we can make people feel better and make people happier with compliments or just being positive and that sort of thing and sending it their way.
You know how I love talking about books, and you know how I adore receiving compliments.
