I think of relationships as having a really safe place with someone where you are, and making an effort to show up everyday - to see them and feel seen, especially as an actor when you're already pretending to be other people all the time. It's an incredible gift to feel seen by one person; a culture of two.

I've seen it happen with people I knew growing up that hated each other, and then years later you go home and you see them walking down the street and they have babies.
I think that having a platform and having a voice to be seen by people beyond the classical ballet world has really been my power, I feel.
I think directors can be a little insensitive to how vulnerable an actor is, when he's giving a performance. In the UK cycling was very popular until the end of the 1950's but it really lost out to our love affair with the car. Regaining a culture where cycling is seen as an everyday part of life requires time and effort. Of course in some British towns it never really went away - just look at Oxford and Cambridge. In other places, where the car has been king for many decades, it takes more time.
