For me, the youth academy has a fundamental role in every club. — © Manuel Pellegrini
For me, the youth academy has a fundamental role in every club.
I became an actor by doing school plays and youth theaters, and then National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. And then I did study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. For me that was a good way to enter the field, to work in the theater.
Me being at Coventry, instead of a big Premier League club, probably helped me develop. You don't get put in the academy system, playing Under-18s and Under-23s.
I am very happy working with Inter, helping them build the club's international relationship with both Fifa and Uefa, promoting the marketing side, its social responsibility activities as well as being involved with the club's academy.
Celtic are the club I supported as a boy, and I loved every moment I was there. For me to leave there, I knew I was going to have to not just come to a club, but I had to come to a special club that was going to allow me to connect with the players and hopefully the supporters, too.
Luckily for me, Hereford restarted their youth team. I trained a few times with the first team before my first stroke of luck, when the club's youth team coach Pete Beadle, someone who knew me well, became the first-team manager.
What brought me here was a desire to keep playing and the exciting project the Cosmos proposed to me. As well as being able to play, which is my passion and what I like doing, they also gave me the chance to help develop a youth academy, where I can bring my experience and knowledge to bear.
Everyone has an affection for the club where you played in your youth; that's normal. But loyalty to it? Loyalty is staying at the club. Affection is different. The important thing is that when you're there, you give it your all, respect the rules and respect the club, and try to be the best you can be. That's fair enough.
Youth! There is nothing like youth. The middle-aged are mortgaged to Life. The old are in Life's lumber-room. But youth is the Lord of Life. Youth has a kingdom waiting for it. Every one is born a king, and most people die in exile.
You wanted me to do what? That I say no a second time to Barcelona? It was impossible for me. I'm in a crazy club there, next to the best. Every year, the club is semi-finalist or finalist of the Champions League!
When I was five, I joined a club, 'Excelsior', the club of Kralingen, in the first division. I was always training. On a free afternoon, I did individual work with Aad Putters, my youth trainer. Not with the idea growing to be a star, but for fun.
Every time you win a cup it's special, but it's a dream come true when it happens at a club where you started in the youth set-up, surrounded by friends who formed an incredible generation of players.

Personally, I would like to face Barcelona in every game because it gives you so much motivation and you learn a lot from it. Pep Guardiola is a really important person in the history of their club. He has a winning mentality and that is fundamental.
Every club he's been to has had great injury crises. Every club. And it's always hamstrings.
When it comes to the big issues like immigration, everyone has a role. The government has a role. The church has a role. Every Christian has a role.
I think that the reason my records are able to live forever in the club is because I actually like to be in the club. I don't go to the club to do VIP or get bottles or nothin' - I go to the club, I enjoy the people, I see what the people are vibin' off, and I see what makes me go crazy in the club also, and that has a lot of influence on what I bring to the table when I'm thinking of making a big club record.
