Argentina has never been able to convince itself that it can win in Brazil. For some reason we have always struggled.
For some reason that only a sociologist might be able to accurately explain, the Brazilian Press was extremely unkind to me, reporting only selective derogatory untruthful rumors (some of which are still around), harsh criticism, and unwarranted sarcasm. I was very hurt by this. It was such great disappointment... When I came back from Brazil at that time, I made a promise to myself that I would never, ever again sing in Brazil. So far [as of 2002], I have kept this promise, having declined each and every invitation or proposals to perform in Brazil. Once was enough!
I've never been able to sky-dive, and I've always wanted to. I've probably done everything else, but for some reason the insurance company won't let me do it.
If you look at the world, there's only maybe only Brazil or Argentina that can win a World Cup that aren't in Europe.
Brazil versus Argentina is always a great game, with great football and scoring chances.
Convince an enemy, convince him that he's wrong. To win a bloodless battle, the victory is long. A simple act of faith, reason over might. To blow up his children would only prove him right.
There are so many fantastic roles, but the ones that have always drawn me to them are the loners who, for whatever reason, never quite fit in and knew it and had to find their own way. I've always been drawn to that, for some reason. I've always been drawn to that sad, isolated place, but what it produces in behavior is something else, entirely. For whatever reason, I'm drawn to these people. Essentially, I think what draws me is that they are survivors against rather considerable odds.
Fiat has assembly plants in Brazil and Argentina.
I always support Argentina. I watched a lot of the European Championships but wasn't supporting one team. I knew some players in a few of the teams and was just seeing how they played. It was nice for Ronaldo to win with Portugal.
At times to be silent is to lie. You will win because you have enough brute force. But you will not convince. For to convince you need to persuade. And in order to persuade you would need what you lack: Reason and Right
I've always been connected to football, but for some reason, there's never been a connection.
I have never considered myself a writer in exile because I grew up outside of my own country, because my father was a diplomat. Therefore, I grew up in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, the United States, I studied in Switzerland - so I've always had perspective on my country - I am thankful for that.
I envy people that have separate lives - that their job is one thing, their personal life is another. I've never been able to have that going on for me. I always try and keep some distance. I mean you can never give everything, so there is some distance, but it's pretty raw on some levels.
I believe the reason why I fight in Brazil is because I sell a lot in Brazil.
A lot of singers entered the industry with me. A lot of them struggled. Many have not been able to make it but some have sustained.
Argentina against Brazil is the most important derby between national teams.
We have not argued in either Brazil or Argentina that the IMF should step in to protect the banks.
