A Quote by Mark Twain

People are much more willing to lend you books than bookcases. — © Mark Twain
People are much more willing to lend you books than bookcases.
People always ask what a book is about, as if it has to be about something. I don't want to write books that lend themselves to that sort of description. My books are more a kind of breaking-down.
I'm much more collaborative than I probably was when I was first starting, much more willing to say, "I don't know the answer to that." I have really talented people and let them do their jobs and not try to control everything as much as I did when I was starting. I was a bit more insecure.
A lot of my favourite books - I should say, not much happens in the books! It's much more about the points of view of the author more than anything else.
I think that some books are more successful than others to certain readers. People who read my books for the humor, they're going to love one book. People who read my books for the mystery, they might not like that book quite as much.
Do you lend books and DVDs to people? If so, don't you always regret it? All my life I have forced books on to people who have subsequently forgotten all about it. Meanwhile, on my shelves sit many orphaned books loaned to me over the years by trusting, innocent souls - some as long ago as the Seventies.
I've never been willing to commit to more than one at a time, because I just don't know - I don't plan the books out ahead of time. So I have no idea how much ground we'll cover.
Conservatives are tougher. They fight harder, they fight for their own, and they're willing to win for themselves and they're willing to impose pain on the opposition. Liberals are much less willing to do that. They're much more - they would much rather give to everybody.
Is there a God? Is there an afterlife?... I think that now, more so than ever, people are much more willing to take the time and question what's out there.
We know that the elements in play in a show like 'Confederate' are much more raw, much more real, and people come into them much more sensitive and more invested, than they do with a story about a place called 'Westeros,' which none of them had ever heard of before they read the books or watched the show.
Never lend books, for no one ever returns them; the only books I have in my library are books that other folks have left me.
The people that lend you money basically give you an answer based on the risk that they are willing to take. But just because a bank is willing to take a particular risk doesn't mean that that is the right amount for me to spend.
I'm much more indecisive and a people-pleaser than someone who's willing to step into the firing line.
I have two bookcases that used to be filled with cookbooks, but now it's mostly books about politics and government. I might just give this all up and run for office.
People are much more willing nowadays to believe that pictures lie than [that] they can express any kind of truth.
I love books so much. I've read more books than anyone else I know.
Books seem so much more - much more sacred to me, and more important and essential, than they were when I was young.
