All the buildup and hype, everything else, is foam. The game is the beer.
If you hype something and it succeeds, you're a genius - it wasn't a hype. If you hype it and it fails, then it was just a hype.
Hype covers every surface of mass culture, and sports fans are intimately familiar with it - the heavy-breathing buildup that leads, inevitably, to a first-round knockout or a 30-point blowout or a fourth-inning rainout.
In Canada, it's beer, hockey, and then everything else.
Usually, I'm on the bus by now, having a beer and waiting for everyone else. This is cutting into my beer time.

If you are a reliever, you get one inning per game or if you are a starter you get one game per week. There is a lot of buildup for a little bit of work compared to the guys who play every down or play every day in baseball.
Shampoo doesn’t have to foam, but we add foaming chemicals because people expect it each time they wash their hair. Same thing with laundry detergent. And toothpaste—now every company adds sodium laureth sulfate to make toothpaste foam more. There’s no cleaning benefit, but people feel better when there’s a bunch of suds around their mouth. Once the customer starts expecting that foam, the habit starts growing.
Give my people plenty of beer, good beer, and cheap beer, and you will have no revolution among them.
Paintings are like a beer, only beer tastes good and it's hard to stop drinking beer.
There is the churning and the boiling of the sea, and the foam on top of it and that is what man is, churning and foam together.
Here's a toast to the roast that good fellowship lends, with the sparkle of beer and wine; May its sentiment always be deeper, my friends, than the foam at the top of the stein. Then here's to the heartening wassail, wherever good fellows are found; Be its master instead of its vassal, and order the glasses around.
