I'm grateful to songwriting and recovery to bringing me to a place of peace. — © Mary Gauthier
I'm grateful to songwriting and recovery to bringing me to a place of peace.
Recovery stabilized me; songwriting gave me a purpose.
Thank you for bringing me to ThunderClan. Tell Bluestar I have always been grateful for the home she gave me. This is a good place to die. I only regret that I will miss watching you become what StarClan has destined you to be.
At the end of the day, we all live in this world together and to practice bringing peace onto social media is a huge step into bringing peace into our world.
When I ask the angels for answers to the human mystery, I find they guide me to a sense of peace and comfort in my soul. The angels do this not by bringing me answers and intricate theories, but by bringing me creative ways of responding to life with light in my heart.
You can forget about recovery. There is no recovery - and there's not going to be any recovery. Recovery is an impossibility.
The question is grateful to who? You would think grateful to Allah, but Allah didn’t mention Himself. So it could be grateful to Allah, grateful to your parents, grateful to your teachers, grateful for your health, grateful to friends. Grateful to anyone who’s done anything for you. Grateful to your employer for giving you a job. Appreciative. Grateful is not just an act of saying Alhamdulilah. Grateful is an attitude, it’s a lifestyle, it’s a way of thinking. You’re constantly grateful.
Bring peace to the Earth by bringing peace to all those whose lives you touch. Be peace.
Peace is the first thing the angels sang. Peace is the mark of the children of God. Peace is the nurse of love. Peace is the mother of unity. Peace is the rest of the blessed souls. Peace is the dwelling place of eternity.
Think in the name of Almighty God. We must first have a worldwide awakening of the public conscience, a spiritual revival, a moral regeneration, before there can be permanent peace and real economic recovery. To this end we do not need new laws, but a new spirit; we do not need a change of government, but a change of the human heart. There can be no peace, there will be no recovery without it. Therefore, with a change of heart, let's all make a new start.
Recovery is an ongoing project that is really discrete from everything else in my life. It allows me to be an agent, allows me to write, allows me to be married, allows me to be part of a family. The writing is not a support beam of recovery but a happy consequence of it.
I made dance records and the gay community gravitated toward them. They gave me a place to really shine, a place to develop, and a place to spread my wings - I'll forever be grateful for that.
My parents' example of a loving, caring relationship, I think, has affected my songwriting a ton and allowed me to start writing love songs that people could connect to without sounding like you're being cheesy, because they're coming from a real place, something that I saw coming up. I think they're a huge influence on my songwriting.
But my activities have been pretty much focused in the last almost 30 years on the recovery, of my own recovery, the understanding for my family of my recovery.
Songwriting for me is about zooming into the canvas, not songwriting in a typical sense.
I will always be grateful to Arsenal for bringing me into the best league in the world, but Swansea have given me what I always wanted, and as No. 1, I want to pay them back.
Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. It can be argued that peace and happiness comes from the subjective internalised perspective of realizing things could be worse and being grateful they aren't. The alternative view that peace and happiness comes from the objective external perspective of having more and better things than at present, while important for growth, can be a never-ending source of jealousy, dissatisfaction and disappointment. A balance of the two, where people are grateful for what they have while striving for more seems the best blended perspective.
