The kind of vision I have for menswear, men aren't ready to wear stuff that's so over the top!
One of the things I love about summer is that you can wear a bikini top and put something over it and it kind of just always looks a little beach-ready, which I think is very fun.
It's amazing to see there aren't boundaries around gender. My menswear business has changed over the years as far as what men are daring to wear. And women, too. Men wanted to look tough, but now they realize you don't have to look like your granddad or dad. You can show a more feminine side.
Men aren't really conscious about what they wear. They are more interested in the fit and comfort and they don't want to wear anything that's too outlandish, so I think it will take me some time to start a menswear line.
The whole point is that colors that are harder to wear, like pink, less expected, or maybe not as commercial; if they're used in the right way, they can make a design way more compelling, especially in menswear where color isn't often used. I think it's really exciting to have a lot of color in men's stuff.
I didn't invent hot water. But when I approach menswear, I do it in a very honest way. And my menswear and womenswear are very similar, in the sense that I put men in leggings and lace shirts.
I want to be able to walk a red carpet and look great but also be able to shred onstage and move. So I tend to go for comfort over anything - I like menswear-inspired stuff but I also like getting glam once in awhile. Whatever I wear, I like it to feel very strong and very unique.
A lot of my girlfriends like baggy oversized stuff and put on menswear already. And I also wanted something that my boyfriends - my gay and straight buddies - could wear. I wanted something for everyone.
Hillary Clinton was an outstanding secretary of state. She would never intentionally put America in any kind of jeopardy. And what I also know, because I handle a lot of classified information, is that there's classified and then there's classified. There's stuff that is really top secret top secret, and there's stuff that is being presented to the president or the secretary of state that you might not want on the transom or, you know, going out over the wire, but is basically stuff that you could get in open source.
I have a particular pair of boyfriend jeans that I wear with Converse sneakers and, really, any kind of top, from a crop top to a hoodie. I usually go for a loose top or jacket to keep things casual with sort of a streetwear vibe.
I am very excited to partner with Doug Ewert and his team at Men's Wearhouse to take menswear specialty retail to a new level and to continue with George Zimmer's vision of great quality, great service, and, of course, great value.
It is actually nonsense to link menswear and travel. But it is important that you have a purpose when you design menswear.
I used to wear boxers and a tank top, but now I sleep in the nude. It's kind of weird, because I used to have to wear something to bed, whether it was a tank top or whatever. And now if I have any clothes at all on, it's really hard to get to sleep.
I would definitely wear flat menswear-like shoes.
When I design menswear, it is important for me to consider where you wear the clothes and what purpose they serve.
For stage wear and gowns, Julien McDonald, who is a friend of mine. I love that he can be totally over the top for stage wear!
I love the idea that you would wear vintage stuff with new stuff and wear stuff that's 5 years old.
