Try and stay away from dairy - especially if you're a woman! It's really hard on your hormones.
I have to avoid sweet food because it's my weakness, and it's really hard. What you eat will definitely affect your skin, so I really try to stay away from sweets.
When I was 23, 24, I used to have a really bad runny nose, mucus, tons of acne, reddishness all over. A woman on a bus I took looked at me and said I was lactose intolerant. She said: 'Stop dairy for three days, and all this is going to go away.' I stopped dairy, and sure enough it was gone three days later, never to return except when I get dairy accidentally.
I live by a rulebook of eating alkaline - no meat, no dairy, no gluten, I try to stay away from sugar - but I'll cheat when I want to since I'm a bit of a foodie.
I stay away from things that I know break me out - I am weirdly allergic to mango and almonds. I take evening primrose and supplements that have EFA fatty acids in them to just balance out my hormones and skin, and I take a lot of vitamin C. I drink a lot of water, try to eat really organic, and try to eat things that benefit my skin.
I stay away from dairy and I drink almond milk now. And I've also found that eating breakfast, like waking up and actually having it, helps me stay way healthy.
What basically happens is your hormones get out of whack. Because of the stress in your life your body says, 'I need more hormones.' So, your hormones are trying to produce and produce and produce, and it's even more stressful and it is this wicked cycle.
My dream was, start young, take hormones, live as a woman, try and become as passable as possible, bury your past, change your friends. Now I've realised that I don't have to be ashamed of my past.
I have my hormones balanced. Most doctors are giving women synthetic hormones, which just eliminate the symptoms, but it's doing nothing to actually replace the hormones you have lost. Without our hormones we die.
So your job as a director is to constantly try to stay at the steering wheel and pull it hard left or hard right. To try to give it a voice.
I don't drink alcohol at all except for special occasions. I definitely do think that it really takes a toll on your body over time, so it's something that I really try to stay away from.
I usually try to go for meals that aren't heavy when I'm playing for a long time. I'll try to stay away from carbing up too hard - so I avoid pastas.
Too many fighters stay in the game for too long. They stay because it's awfully hard to walk away from the roar of the crowd. Really hard. You live for that and so you stay too long. And you might have a wife and kids to feed. So you keep fighting because you don't know how to do anything else.
If your friend's feeling bad, it's hard to know what to do. Do you back away or try to help them? It's a really hard situation that I've been in. You want to support your friend. You want to be there. My advice is, don't get too involved with it, just be by their side. If they need your help, they'll ask for it.
I promise you I try very hard to stay out of party politics. I run away from it.
I do my best to stay away from dairy, especially ice cream. I've become a cookie monster whenever I want to mess around and eat something cheap.
I try to stay away from the craft services table on set! That's probably why I am able to still get work in this business: I stay away from junk food.
