You go through experiences in life on and off the pitch. — © Memphis Depay
You go through experiences in life on and off the pitch.
What I really like about 'Red Band Society' is how real it is, and the experiences that they are going through are experiences that everyone is bound to go through at one point or another in their lives.
What made me this way was watching my father go through bad employment experiences. When I was 17, and he was 65, I saw him go through the experiences working for a boss that was rude and obnoxious. I swore if I was ever had the capacity to run a company that I would do it in a different way.
I don't have to get a pitch down the middle. If I like the pitch-even if it's 15 inches off the plate, and that's the pitch I wanted-I'm swinging.
I always believe that the experiences that you go through are what make you stronger and what help you push forward through life.
I have ventured out and written about real-life experiences that I haven't gone through myself, but I've known people to go through them. I believe that I am a different person off the pitch than I am on it. On the pitch, I am a bit louder, and off the pitch, I am quieter.
You go through life experiences. Each record captures a different turning point in my life.
I've learned from life experiences. If you go through certain things, you're able to pull from them.
Everyone must go through all experiences but they need not go through them all in reality -they can do it vicariously, by imagination.
Paul Scholes was the main figure for me growing up. His attitude, he's humble off the pitch - you didn't hear much about him - but on the pitch, he was loud, aggressive, liked to tackle, and I learned off him.
You have to go through tough experiences and go through some battles, in order to be stronger.
If the pitch starts with a sob story, I'm out. If the pitch talks about personal issues, I'm out. If the pitch starts off with how big the market opportunity is, I'm out. If the pitch tells me what is unique about the product, how it can make a profit, and it's an area where I have expertise, I will read on.
What happens on the pitch stays on it. Off it you have to let it go.
At United, they teach me about things off the pitch as well, how to deal with stuff with your family and how to be a man. That part is very important, not just the football side but off the pitch as well.
If people are good off the pitch, of course on the pitch it will be easier to play.
Weirdly, me and Sarri got along off the pitch, but on the pitch it was totally different.
