I watched 'Free Willy' probably 100 times. I nearly wore out the VHS tape. That movie was my introduction to Michael Madsen. When I finally saw 'Reservoir Dogs', I was like, 'That's the guy from 'Free Willy'!' - which is probably the wrong way around.
I was nervous about playing a lead part in a Working Title romantic comedy and I was also nervous about the fact that I not only had to take my clothes off, but get my willy out. There's certain things you can do to make yourself look better, but there's nothing you can do about your willy. Your willy is your willy and no amount of working out is going to make your willy look any different. You get what you're given. But I wanted to look my best and to whip myself into any semblance of handsomeness. And that was hard going.
'Streetcar' is no longer about the moment at all. There is no Blanche DuBois anywhere; south, north, east or west. We don't have Blanche DuBois at the moment. But we have Willy Loman; everywhere we look we see Willy Loman. We are Willy Loman. We're on Facebook; we need to be known; we're selling all the time.
I started swimming. I frolic like Free Willy.
Well, one thing for sure, I won't be remembered for 'Free Willy.' Or maybe I will.
I'm buying things for people I don't even know. I'm like Willy Wonka, but more manipulative. Imagine if Willy Wonka had a devious goal.
Into this universe, and why not knowing
Nor whence, like water willy-nilly flowing;
And out of it, as wind along the wate,
I know not whither, willy-nilly blowing.
People have been afraid of me because of the parts I played. Nobody remembers that I was the dad in 'Free Willy.'
I always say, 'I love chocolate, but I'm not Willy Wonka.'
I cannot say to be glad or not glad to be on Everest. It is my life. I have opportunity to be here, so I am here.
The accomplishment that I am most proud of is that 'Free Willy' and 'Dave' got a political message out, which isn't easy to do within the constraints of studio moviemaking.
People willy-nilly borrow for consumption. Civil servants willy-nilly borrow for consumption and then wonder why they don't have enough money at the end of the month.
I'm very opinionated and I have a lot of things to say. Sometimes I sound a bit like a willy.
Some soldier will say, 'You know, sir, you and I have some political disagreements, but I'm glad you came all the way out here.' And you know, you say, 'Well, maybe one day you'll see the light but I'm glad to be out here with you.'
I always say Coach Trestman reminds me of the first Willy Wonka. Not the Johnny Depp one.
I don't understand the problem with paroling Charles Manson? I say set him free and let him get on with his work. I have a long list of celebrities I'd be glad to share with him.
