I said to [Lionel] Richie, "Man, my wife says you must really respect women because you write such beautiful love songs."
I'm a huge Lionel Richie fan, and sometimes we actually listen to Lionel Richie on the bus.
In Denver, all we really had was pop radio, so I grew up on all that late '70s pop stuff - Billy Joel, James Taylor, Lionel Richie, Elton John, Steve Miller and Toto. Great love songs and really hooky and melodic music - I have all of that stuff in my heart.
Just because I write some songs about bad women, though, that doesn't mean I hate women. I've written songs that show great love and respect for women too. Songs that talk about strong, upstanding women and their pain. I have women working on my music. They understand where I'm coming from. So does my mama. I always play my music for her before it comes out. Why do you think I wrote "Dear Mama"? I wrote it for my mama because I love her and I felt I owed her something deep.
Women sometimes really love to look at other beautiful women on the screen. But they don't look at a woman the way a man looks at a woman. They want to be that woman. They like if a woman is beautiful or sexy, especially if she's powerful. They like to see her catch a man, or to be powerful in the world. I think this is why a lot of women love noir films and classic films because they can really identify with these really strong, beautiful women. That's the kind of power that women have lost culturally.
Lionel [Richie] said, "Yeah, I learned chords and stuff playin' against your albums."
Didn't Lionel Richie just make a country album? No one is giving him a hard time... and God bless him - I love Lionel and should be able to do what he wants to do, like Madonna should, too. Both are having success and I applaud them. If you don't like it, don't buy it. The ageism criticism is getting old.
I love women. I'm crazy about them. I have a beautiful wife, who's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, and I teach my son to respect women and other people's position in the world, whatever it is.
You have to really love women in order to really just have a respect for women and love them. No man - I don't care what kind of man it is, how feminine he is - they never could understand what we go through as far as physically and mentally.
To be popular one must be a mediocrity." "Not with Women," said the duchess, shaking her head; "and women rule the world. I assure you we can't bear mediocrities. We women, as someone says, love with our ears, just as you men love with your eyes, if you ever love at all." "It seems to me that we never do anything else," murmered Dorian.
It sounds not only disagreeable but also paradoxical, yet it must nevertheless be said that anyone who is to be really free and happy in love must have surmounted his respect for women and have come to terms with the idea of incest with his mother or sister.
I think I respect everyone votes and everyone must respect my votes. My vote bdo in 2015 was for [Lionel] Messi because, for me, he had an amazing season and he deserved to win.
Lionel Richie, love song, OK, thank you very much, good-bye. And all of a sudden I realized that, in my career, what has made my career has always been the surprises.
It is impossible for a man to love his wife whole heartedly without loving all women somewhat. I suppose that the converse must be true of women.
My wife knows that I thrive on independence, and whatever girls live with me must know that, too. They must realize I have a certain respect for my wife and love for my children, and my work comes pretty much ahead of all that.
Women rule the world. It's not really worth fighting because they know what they're doing. Ask Napoleon. Ask Adam. Ask Richard Burton or Richie Sambora. Many a man has crumbled.
The way I feel about you, it's like I finally understand what Lionel Richie is singing about. I mean, what we have, it's like movie love.
