It's amazing to me that songwriting is an actual job.
Songwriting was always my 'plan B'. I didn't even know that songwriting was a job until my late teens!
I had met Keanu [Reeves]a few times so it was a great way to reach out to him with an actual job offer. He very kindly agreed to be part of it and it was an amazing experience.
Songwriting for me is about zooming into the canvas, not songwriting in a typical sense.
I think Dawn has done an amazing job showing that asteroids aren't just hunks of rock. They're worlds - they're places an astronaut can explore. I think the Rosetta mission also did an amazing job of that.
That's what's amazing about songwriting: you can write a story that everyone connects to.
The constant education is what keeps me interested. That's what absolutely fascinates me about this job. This week, I'm playing a faerie. Last year, I played a soldier. What am I going to be playing in six months? It's amazing! It's a wonderful job.
'Mr. Misunderstood' - that whole album is incredible and just has amazing songwriting.
I always wanted to write when I was a kid; it just never occurred to me that you could have a job that didn't involve any actual work.... I felt it would be fun to have a job like that where you could make stuff up and be irresponsible and get paid for it.
I am manager at Chelsea. I manage and represent elite and world class players and this for me is an amazing job I've spent nine years cultivating all my energy into. I'm not looking for another job.
I kind of think I have the best job in America. I work with amazing people who challenge me daily. My job as a memeber of DoSomething.org is never boring. I'm constantly learning. And we laugh a lot.
I totally love my job, and I wake up every day basically thinking about how can I do my job better. It never feels like a job. It's hard, and it's exhausting sometimes, but it never feels like - I would do this even if they didn't pay me to do it. That's a pretty amazing feeling.
I think Eden did an amazing job, had an amazing time with Chelsea.
It'd be nice to just hear, "You did a great job." I don't say this from personal experience because I have an amazing husband who is an amazing father. I say this knowing he does it all the time. He's always great about saying, "You were amazing today." He does it without me having to ask for it and there's something so beautiful about not fishing for that compliment from your partner that gives you that much more of stability and confidence.
I don't claim to be a particularly good father. I'm flawed, let's say. I've certainly been affected by the experience of having kids... trying to be a father, at least. It's an amazing process. It's like songwriting: it's a complete mystery to me. I don't understand it - but I've certainly written about it.
I think of scientific veracity as an idea from the past - the scientists say it is so, the photo is proof. Even the authoritative power of the word actual - an actual what? An actual retouched photo, an actual collaged photo?
But my strength was in singing and songwriting, which was a new discovery for me when I was 18. And I decided if I pursued songwriting, which is what was closest to my heart, then there would be no competition. I would just live my life being myself and living my dream.
