Rumours of link-ups with co-stars have become an easy publicity exercise for production houses. It takes the focus away from the film.
The rumours and link-ups with my co-stars are upsetting. Is it a crime to be a divorcee and a single woman? Does being a divorcee mean you can't have a life?
When I started, you didn't focus so much on production, certainly not - gosh - down to the finest little detail of how you shifted your eyes or how you turned to somebody. A lot of the shots were far away from a still camera. There weren't as many close-ups and intimacy.
One of the problems of a director on the set is that we become overwhelmed by all the factors and threads of production, that sometimes we can't focus on our main job, which is steering the performances to create the whole film.
I want to focus on crimes that affect families and not get distracted going for high-publicity cases. I want to see us move away from politics and focus more on prosecution.
Exercise clears my brain of the stresses of poker's ups and downs, and allows me to re-focus my mind on the next day.
It's very easy to front 'The Weakest Link;' it takes 10 minutes to prepare. But it takes three months to prepare an hour-long history programme.
It has become a routine for the media to link me with all the stars I work with.
I've been dealing with link-up rumours even since I was in school.
I'm a big fan of new production techniques and new sounds. That's kind of what has been my focus out here; making sure that the songs can stand away from the production, however it's produced.
I grew up in a town with no movie theater. TV was my only link to the outside world. Film wasn't such a big deal to me. It was TV. So much so, that when I meet TV stars now... Not my co-workers, but real TV stars, I get nervous. I freak out around them.
Some people do believe that any publicity is good publicly, but I don't. I would never want to be in news for rumours.
If you focus your energy on the camera, it takes away from the time you have to focus on the performances.
I had heard that in Bollywood, one gets publicity without even asking for it. There are new rumours every day and the celebrities involved get disturbed.
After I finish any film, I move to the next one. It takes about a year to write and another six months are for pre-production and other things. You need a minimum of two-and-a-half months for the shooting of a new film. Then, I also edit my own film.
I exercise at least five times a week with stretching, Pilates, push-ups, planks, sit- ups, squats and light weights.
Staring at the stars was like staring backward in time, since some stars are so far away that their light takes millions of years just to reach us. That we see stars not as they look now, but as they were when dinosaurs roamed the earth. The whole concept just struck me as…amazing somehow.
