Just because you sell lots of records it doesn't mean to say you're any good. Look at Phil Collins.
Everybody raps. We rap to make money. We do business. Ain't no other record company out there that sold as many records as we did.
I'm a fan of Genesis prior to Phil Collins. I don't really like Phil.
If you sold a million records, the only way you could be disappointed is if the guy down the street sold seven million. But you've got to start dodging bullets once you've sold that many records, because everybody wants to kill you. We're not in that position. We can still be very successful and not have to worry about wearing bulletproof vests.
I start songs all the time. If I weren't so lazy, I would finish them. It's like when I have a deadline I have to. I always feel very lucky that I am forced to make records at certain times. If I was forced to make 2 records a year, I would write twice as many songs. I can't make myself finish something unless I am forced
I've sold a lot of records. I've sold, like, 150 million records, and I don't think I've had that many good reviews. It's one of those things that when you're really successful, critics hate you just because you're successful.
We're in a situation now where we've got five long-play records of sort of eerie psychedelic pop music. I don't think that we can make another one. That's really my position on it. If we were to do a film soundtrack or something else where I could take the rest of the band with me. I really don't think bands should make more than five records anyway. In fact, five is one too many. We'll have to see how it pans out.
The records that I grew up listening to had feel, and the drummers that inspired me - like Stewart Copeland, Neil Peart, Phil Collins and Roger Taylor - all had their own voice and individual style.
We were up for a Grammy, we sold millions of records and we toured the world I don't know how many times. It was insane.
It would be great if I am offered a film with Sonakshi. I've watched her in 'Dabangg' nearly four to five times and I did SMS her about her performance.
But I remember we sold nearly 18,000 records in one day.
Phil Griffin, who happens to be the head of MSNBC, is not a liberal or progressive. I worked at MSNBC; I talked to Phil Griffin many times. I know Phil Griffin. He is not remotely progressive. All he cares about is success in his own career.
God bless him, I mean a lot of times you get non-actors on a set and they get really self-conscious, especially when doing something crazy like singing along with Phil Collins. They get sort of reserved and self-conscious. Mike [Tyson] completely trusted Todd [Phillips] and totally put everything into it.
The thing to remember about Obama is he doesn't care if you like him or I like him or somebody else does. He literally would rather do homework with his kids than be around other politicians. Does this make him unpopular at times? Yes. Does it make him ineffective? Most certainly not.
The opportunity to record the song came when Phil Collins' record label, Atlantic, was doing a tribute album to him and they asked all these different artists to do renditions of his songs.
