I do indeed write on the road. My laptop goes with me everywhere. — © Nora Roberts
I do indeed write on the road. My laptop goes with me everywhere.
We have so much inspiration. It's everywhere... So I always have a pen with me and a laptop, and I write everything down.
I take my laptop everywhere with me, and I will write on long journeys. I will write sitting in my hammock in the middle of the rainforest. When everybody else is chilling out after filming, I am usually writing!
I carry my iPad and laptop with me everywhere.
I do have an office where about 70 percent of my writing gets done, but sometimes it does get a bit stir-crazy to be cooped up in there, so I'll grab my laptop and write somewhere else: another room in the house, out on the patio, or even Heaven-forbid, a trip to Starbucks. But I also write on the road.
I used to write on pads with a pen but had trouble reading the words the next day. Years later, Bob Dylan taught me to just write and write on a laptop computer. Then I'd print that out. When it was time to write a song, I'd go through the pages and sing melodies to words that moved me.
When I write a script, I have all the old versions of the script on my laptop. They're saved as backups in case something goes horribly wrong.
I take my laptop with me on the road. When I come home, I log onto AOL, go to the Web site, and answer questions.
I'm always toting my laptop and chargers and other essential goodies around with me everywhere I go... and I've got to have a totally killer bag to hold it all!
Then at the top of the hill, the road forks. Which just figures. "You gotta be kidding." I say. One part of the road goes left, the other goes right. (Well, it's a "Fork" ain't it?)
I have my guy Semi who is my on the road - he's my personal trainer. He helps me out with training and stuff like that, and he's shown me a lot of things I can do on the road. We were trying to figure out something that I can do everywhere, like in my hotel room, so I don't have to have a gym.
A friend of mine created an email ID for me, and I was completely hooked soon after. I would mail friends constantly and lug my laptop everywhere just to listen to some music.
I need to travel, of course, with my laptop, so I can do my business on the road.
You have to want to write and like to write. Sit down at that desk or machine or laptop and tell stories.
To me, the greatest invention of my lifetime is the laptop computer and the fact that I can be working on a book and be in an airport lounge, in a hotel room, and continue working; I fire up my laptop, and I'm in exactly the same place I was when I left home - that, to me, is a miracle.
If you would know the value of money; go, and try to borrow some! For, he that goes a borrowing, goes a sorrowing! and indeed, so does he that lends to such people, when he goes to get it in again!
I can write anywhere. But I don't use a computer, and I could never write on a laptop. I hate the sound of computers; it's too dull, like it's not doing anything for you.
