Of course, we all need to have basic necessities met, such as good health care, good food, good education and good housing. But what is good? Having too much is bad, as having too little is also bad.
Travel writing is harrowing. You are in paradise, more or less, having to prove it is paradise. It is hard to have a good time trying to figure out a way to say you are having a good time, whether you are having it or not, even in paradise.
Having a fling with you doesn't appeal to me. You're handsome, but you're too inexperienced to be good in bed. Having ridden many horses doesn't make you a good rider; it just proves that you can't recognize a good one or don't know how to keep her.
What it boils down to is the vibe of the audience. If they're having a good time, we're having a good time. We feed off them.
We're having too good a time today. We ain't thinking about tomorrow.
The universe defies you to answer the following questions: What good is a high paying career if it leaves you continually stressed out and miserable? What good is owning a large stately house if the only time you spend in it is when you sleep in it? What good is having a lot of interesting possessions if you never have the free time to enjoy them? To have too much time is not good, you have to force yourself. And human beings aren't meant for true freedom. I've learned that, having had it.
A scholar's business is to add to what is known. That is all. But it is capable of giving the very greatest satisfaction, because knowledge is good. It does not have to look good or even sound good or even do good. It is good just by being knowledge. And the only thing that makes it knowledge is that it is true. You can't have too much of it and there is no little too little to be worth having. There is truth and falsehood in a comma.
Now, I don't want to get off on a rant here, but guilt is simply God's way of letting you know that you're having too good a time.
The clubs are good fun-having a laugh, really having a good time.
We're having a good time. That's what I did last year. If you can't have a good time, you might as well stay home. I feel real good.
When I came into the league trying to party and having too much of a good time, I found out the hard way how it affected my performance.
