A Quote by Paul Pierce

I try to play within the flow of the team's offense. — © Paul Pierce
I try to play within the flow of the team's offense.
I remember when I went to try out for the Olympic team in 1972, Coach Iba told me he didn't care how many points I could score because if I couldn't guard anybody, I wasn't going to make the team. I knew to make the team I had to become a better defender. If you can play offense, you can defend. It just comes down to competitive will.
I always try to play hard as possible to help my team - it doesn't matter if it's on defense or offense. I would say when I was young I was playing like that, too.
I try to do what's best for the team, try to get the win, and try to have success on offense.
When I feel like it's my shot within the flow of the offense and getting in any rhythm, I feel like I should make every one of them.
We need to play tough defense and have a sound offense. But mostly, we have to outrebound the other team.
I think I've really stepped outside the box in the way I try to train, eat, hydrate, the cognitive brain games I play on a daily or weekly basis to try to build up some durability within my body, within my brain, to be able to go out there and play at a high level at age 38.
The greatest players fit with the team. They play within the team's style, rather than asking the team to change its style.
In order to be successful you need to have a good team with a good core, so my whole thing is that I was always encouraging my teammates, and I try to lead them by example to play together, to play as a team.
I try to give my best for the team, help the team, and try and go out there and play the best I can for myself as well.
Obviously, I try to play the game in the way that I can help the team. I know I play a little bit more defensively now, more in the role as a team player, but I think I'm doing really well in that.
From the standpoint that you try to adjust your offense to your quarterback, you try to adjust your football team around your players. You do the best you can with the hand that you have, and you've got to add some parts along the way.
Offense is one phase of the game. You have to be able to play the other phases of the game and help your team win.
But I just try to do my best. I don't know if my game can influence the game of the team and how we play, but I just try to help with my football, for my team-mates and the club.
I like the offense to flow.
One thing we said as an offense is we want to start games fast ... we want the other team to play catch-up to us.
Manchester United are always a team that try to play football, try to play football from the back.
