I love the fact that, if I don't win multiple championships, that I probably won't be mentioned amongst the other guys in Celtics history who've done it before. That type of stuff motivates me.
I do feel a kinship for sure. I admire those guys who've won hat-tricks like Andy, and obviously Kelly who's won seven, that's amazing stuff. I think the average surfer thinks it's amazing. The guys who win our championships, they're so amazing.
There’s a reason why players that have multiple championships have multiple championships. There’s a certain characteristic and an understanding and knowledge and that’s not something that’s easily taught. You kind of have to go through it and it kind of has to be part of your DNA from the beginning.
I've won midget championships, a junior-league title, two World Junior Championships and some other minor-hockey championships, but I don't think teams win because I'm on them.
To win MVP was a dream come true for sure, but there are guys who have done this multiple times.
I'm not here for anything other than world championships. I don't want to be here driving around and finishing races and scoring points. I only want to win and if I can't do that - if I can't see that I have a future with wins and championships - then I'm not up for Formula One, I'll do something else where I can win.
I want to be the guy who our sport looks up to, and win multiple championships.
That's one of the reasons I decided to come to Boston - to contend and win a championship, especially with the history of the Celtics and what they stand for.
The Celtics don't celebrate anything but championships.
All of the teams in this league that have won multiple championships, they didn't come out the gate winning. Sometimes you have to take those hits to understand what it takes to win.
I love team environments, like the Celtics, the Bruins. I love going into the locker room and meeting these guys.
Let me tell you, writing comics is as hard as anything I've ever done - for me, at least. I'm now officially in awe of guys who can crank out multiple books a month and maintain a high level of quality. Comics are completely different than any other medium I've dabbled in.
I did have that happen when I was with the Celtics once - I was there late and no one woke me up when I fell asleep in a chair. But at the Celtics they didn't like me as much, so they let me snooze away and made fun of me.
I've already done enough to prove myself. Win or lose, I think I've done enough to cement my name in the history of this sport. So for me, it's more like I have to win just for an opportunity to get on the mic and say all that.
Going out there and losing is so easy. I want stuff to be hard - that's why I want to win championships, I want to win games.
There was no male vampire type in existence. Someone suggested an actor of the Continental School who could play any type, and mentioned me.
My dad demanded results. I wasn't expected just to be a student, I was supposed to get straight A's. My dad didn't want me just to play sports, he pushed me to win state championships in high school and national championships.
