I think part of being an actor is staying private.
One of the things I've always enjoyed is moving around and staying fit. Physicality is such a big part of being an actor, but it's also about stillness and silence.
I think there are a lot of companies that are staying private longer. Much more of their growth is happening while they are on the private side. So their valuations are hitting $1 billion while they are still private more often.
Part of what's cool about being an actor or being in this industry, frankly, is to be able to travel to distant lands. That's part of the deal. I always thought when I was growing up, "I wanna be an actor and go see the world.'
I think, being an actor, part of it is also being a teacher. I think that's one of the most rewarding things you can do - pass on the knowledge you've learned from other teachers.
Just like I gave Jack Ma and Alibaba the luxury of staying private for longer, I am now giving Arm the gift of being private. My only message to them now is take my investment and let's go, go, go.
Making the majors is not as hard as staying there, staying interested day after day. It's like being married. The hardest part is to stay married.
With the Internet and social media being a huge part of today's culture, I think it's super important to promote staying smart online.
I suppose nowadays it's all a question of surgery, isn't it? Of course the notion is beautiful, the idea of staying a boy and a child forever, and I think you can. I have known plenty of people who, in their later years, had the energy of children and the kind of curiosity and fascination with things like little children. I think we can keep that, and I think it's important to keep that part of staying young. But I also think it's great fun growing old.
I think all of these companies staying private for as long as they are is actually pretty bad.
I think a part of being successful or trying to be successful is staying true to who you are. Be genuine.
For me it was just about staying the course, staying true to who I believe that I am, being open, being honest, being transparent with the players, being firm with the players but at the same time listening to the players.
I always thought on my own that what is a huge part of being an actor, or what made me a better actor, was just really living life. Not being closed in on life, but being more open to experiences and to people and taking risks and exposing yourself to things.
I've been nominated twice before as actor in a leading part. Now I'm nominated as actor in a supporting part. If I don't win, I'll just wait until I'm nominated for being in the theater during the show. Do they have one like that?
I think that's part of the fun of being an actor - you get to not be normal all of the time.
The hard part of being a celebrity is staying one!
I guess I'm probably a Method actor; I don't know... I just think of it as staying in the zone.
