All the films that I have signed or I intend to sign are purely on the basis of merit of what the films are about. — © Prithviraj Sukumaran
All the films that I have signed or I intend to sign are purely on the basis of merit of what the films are about.
One filmmaker makes films that are deep, intellectual, profound and confrontational. And the other one makes purely vacuous, escapist films. I'm not sure the one who makes escapist films is making a poorer contribution than the one who makes the deeper films.
It is unintentional that I will do less films, it just happened that way. Like in 2000, I had a line of films signed but it all went for a toss. The films never got made... It just happens.
I've heard about brothers making films, but I've never heard about whole families making films like this. We didn't intend to do it; it wasn't something that we planned - it just gradually happened.
I enjoy making films. I have made all kinds of films, including action films, romantic films, period films like 'Kala Pani.'
I enjoy making all kinds of films. I love action films, war films, period films, adventure films.
I definitely don't intend to only make films about Nigerians or Africans. I want to make films about people, any people.
In 2010 I had signed three big banner films with actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu, Arjun Rampal. Directors like Ken Ghosh, Bela Bhansali signed me and I had got my signing amounts but those films did not take off at all.
Films have been my only passion in life. I have always been proud of making films and will continue taking pride in all my films. I have never made a movie I have not believed in. However, though I love all my films, one tends to get attached to films that do well. But I do not have any regrets about making films that did not really do well at the box office.
I love looking at the old Bond films. Maybe it's purely out of reminiscence, the nostalgic things you think about. But there were some very good films made, and I think that the public has enjoyed them, too.
All I know is that Salman has signed 80 percent of my films without reading the script, and almost all our films have done well.
I could have signed 10 films after 'Jai Ho,' but those films would have done nothing for me. I wanted to wait for the right project.
Some of these things I saw in foreign films - African films, Cuban films - long before I decided to really go on this course as an actor. I started to think about what values I saw in those films that I wanted to bring to my projects.

My films have elements of genre in them, which prevents them from being purely art films.
There were a lot of people dreaming about making films, and they would finance maybe 6 films a year. Because they were funded by the government, the films sort-of had to deal with serious social issues - and, as a result, nobody went to see those films.
Whenever I sign a couple of films, people say I'm not paying attention to my constituency. Whenever I go to Rampur or elsewhere, people ask me about my films. It is strange, really.
