I have no plans to quit south films and come to Bollywood. — © Prithviraj Sukumaran
I have no plans to quit south films and come to Bollywood.
I want to do Hindi films, but a proper one and a good production. I'm even open to multi-starrers because those work better in Bollywood. But it should be with only Bollywood technicians, not the South Indian team. There's no point to my going to Bollywood if I work with the same artistes and technicians.
I quit south Indian films because I was bored. The fans in south India were also quite demanding.
Honestly, I was always very keen on acting in the South Indian films. I think people here have a notion that Bollywood actresses aren't keen on doing films here but let me tell you, we are.
It is cool to know that my films down south are being remade in Bollywood.
We see so much violence in films, whether it is Bollywood or south films. People are shown blowing up each other onscreen. It's like a seed that is planted and you keep feeding it with small doses. It's cancerous and does affect society.
Modeling and my films in the South helped groom me for Bollywood and I had the confidence it required.
My South Indian audience matters to me a lot, so I like when they watch my Bollywood films. It feels great.
My mom and I never thought that I would make my way into Bollywood. I was happy doing films down south.
I am pleased about making a comeback in Bollywood, but then I really cannot think about leaving South Indian cinema. Whatever I am today is because of South films, and I cannot give up on that.
Kollywood allots big budget only for commercial films. Bollywood film industry is straightforward that way. When compared to Bollywood, Kollywood is fake. They keep churning out the same films.
Earlier Bollywood was a fly-by kind of business which few wished to be involved in. Now Bollywood is good business and everybody wants to be associated with films. This is definitely a very significant change that I have seen in Bollywood.
In fact, the Bengali film industry is becoming more balanced between creativity and commercialization. And if Bollywood can remake south Indian and Hollywood films, why can't we do so!
In the history of Indian cinema I am the only South Indian director who has survived for 12 years and 25 films in Bollywood.
In Bollywood, you have to do one film at a time, and there are no mixed schedules. And doing four films at a time is out of the question. Telugu film industry works very differently. But the kind of films I'm getting here are better than what I've been offered in Bollywood.
I am ready to work in any industry whether its Bollywood, Hollywood, the digital platforms, South Indian film, or Bengali films. Wherever I get a good opportunity, I'll be there.
There are quality films being made in all languages, whether in Hindi cinema, Bengali or the south. Bollywood doesn't represent Indian cinema, per say.
