Even the greatest player of all times loses sets or is down in a match. It just shows that, you know, a win is never guaranteed. It shows all of us that we have to work for every point, fight for every point no matter what.
I want to try to prove the world wrong - that you can run and win in the NBA, and you can win big if you keep running. The problem is, can you run for 82 games every minute, every possession of every game?
All the coaches want to win every match, every coach is working to win every match.
Soccer is simple... you just need to have the right mentality, fighting in every game, in every practice and for every ball.
My point is simple: When you win a match or a tournament, forget why the captain took certain decisions. Celebrate the victory. Do not try to analyse every decision.
We cannot expect to win every match 3-0, as opponents won't just lie down and let us dominate.
It`s hard to think of John McCain without thinking about what a ball of energy he is. I remember when I was working in the Senate, he just, enters every room and went down every hallway at the highest speed possible and just was always that way. I think people saw that when he was running for president, that that`s the way he handled everything. It`s just this constant never let up attitude.
Every ball matters - if with the last ball the opposition need four to win, and you've gone for 96, can you get that out of your mind and bowl a dot ball and win the game?
My approach every game is to try to keep the ball down and get ground ball outs.
I try to win every match, and then we see at the end.
We were playing every game to win, we just happened to win 27 in a row. Our motto was to try and go out and win every game, but there's nothing really to talk about.
Certainly our job as an offense to try to score points and that's running the ball, throwing the ball, whatever it is. Somehow, someway we've got to try to score points to help our team win. That's where the focus is and it's pretty easy just to focus on that.
You cannot turn your winning attitude on when you think you 'need it.' You must work on it every day, every practice, every match - win or lose. Focus on playing to win, not playing to lose, for there is a season of difference between the two.
If I'm only going to play one more match, I want to take a wicket with every ball, not try and defend a boundary.
Every quarterback can throw a ball; every running back can run; every receiver is fast; but that mental toughness that you talk about translates into competitiveness.
In juniors, sometimes you have an easy match. Sometimes the girls can play stupidly. In seniors, every match is complicated. Even if the girl plays stupidly, she'll fight back and try to win.
