Everybody is looking for an election where they can do something and participate.
Since all signs indicate that we shouldn't participate in this election, participating in the election has no meaning.
The Baltic republics have invented something totally new. Do you know what? They use the word 'non-citizens' for people who have been living for decades in the territory of Baltic states and have been deprived of a number of political rights. They cannot participate in the election campaigns; they have limited political and social rights. Everybody keeps quiet about it, as if this is the way it should be. We're all very young and no one knows what it means, and I remember feeling strange that people were just repeating words that they didn't understand. I refused to participate. For some reason I always rejected it, but respectfully.
One of the things I will do very early in my administration is to get rid of the Johnson Amendment so that our great pastors and ministers and rabbis and - and everybody - and priests and everybody can go and tell and can participate in the process.
Yet the march toward freedom is not without its hazards or its casualties and the threats of violence aimed at Iraqis who participate in the election will be dealt with accordingly.
It's like everybody is shooting something, and everybody's a filmmaker; everybody can shoot a cat video and post it. So the big thing now is - for people that have talent and have something to say, and are creative, and are capable of making something good - is how do they get attention to it?
In the end, that's what this election is about. Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope?
If everybody who voted in 2008 shows up in 2010, we will win this election. We will win this election.
If everybody that voted in 2008 shows up in 2010, we will win this election. We will win this election.
