When you're not working is when you have to stay positive and remind yourself that you're talented.
I feel incredibly blessed. I'm happy, but all of this movie business, and working as an actress is really hard. When you're not working is when you have to stay positive and remind yourself that you're talented. What's due for you is due for you, and you don't know when that's going to come. That's something I struggled with after I got out of school, wondering how long I was going to have to wait. Then beautiful jobs started coming to me. Now, I feel that my path is going to be what it's going to be, and as long as I relax and breathe, I can enjoy it.
Film and stage are very different; I don't necessarily prefer one over the other. Every few years, I get a big itch to go back to the theater. To learn humility, to learn bravery and to remind yourself that the pistons that drive your craft are working on full power. And to remind yourself how badly paid actors can be.
Sometimes, to ensure that a talented individual will work for you, or will stay working with you, you need to be flexible. Money is not always the great motivator here. Talented people want a good salary, of course, but surprisingly often they are more attracted to new opportunities and challenges.
Stay hungry, stay young, stay foolish, stay curious, and above all, stay humble because just when you think you got all the answers, is the moment when some bitter twist of fate in the universe will remind you that you very much don't.
I just say to anyone in life or in sport, don't let defeat bother you and don't let no one say you can't. Stay focused and stay positive and keep working hard.
After working so long on something like this, it's great to go out and meet people and see the reactions and remind yourself that, oh, yeah,, I wasn't just working in a cave by myself for no reason...
Celebrate yourself... and stay positive!
You have to be 110% focused all of the time. It's hard when everybody is saying, 'Oh, you're so amazing.' You have to remind yourself to stay humble.
I always say just stay positive. If you ever get down on yourself, try to find something that takes away that negative. Always find that positive area.
I think that I am working to remind myself that it's still my life... you have to enjoy yourself.
Have fun, be yourself, enjoy life and stay positive.
I don't think once you book a part you should stop going to class. I think you should constantly remind yourself that you're working and that you're working on getting better.
One way to stay grounded in the entertainment industry is to surround yourself with very good people that will constantly remind you how uncool you are.
Believe in yourself, don't let people put you in a box and stay positive.
It's good to remind yourself that you're lucky to be working at all. It's very easy to get into the mindset of ingratitude and I battle with it all the time.
Surrounding yourself with inspiring people is now just as important as being talented or working hard.
