When I was in architecture school, I became curious about the exact mathematics, physics, and construction of the great structures I had been studying. When I got started in my own engineering course, my interest in physics and maths was very high. After all, engineering is all about applied maths and physics. If I were to learn anything further in physics or mathematics, it simply was not there.
Statistics is, or should be, about scientific investigation and how to do it better, but many statisticians believe it is a branch of mathematics.
