I don't think I have the power to do more mythological shows, but I would love to if it's like a finite series. But doing that as a daily soap is not easy.
When fiction started on TV, the daily soap splurge happened and I knew that I would not get caught in a daily soap.
If I'm doing a daily soap I would like my character to drive the narrative.
I think finite series gives you more time to write down your journey in any show. When it's a finite series, you know the start and know your end. The writers and actors know what is going to happen, so the interest is not lost.
In days to come I would love to doing some more reality shows but the saas-bahu type daily soaps are a strict no for me as I hate serials based on kitchen politics.
I swear to much for this to be a television special. Did you guys ever have your mouth washed out with soap? My mom did that to me a lot. I think I swear more because of it. I started liking the taste of soap, I would eat it just to spite her. (pause) I'd bite off bars of soap.
When doing a series, I look for something that has an idea you can think about, something that I'm noticing and aware of and thinking about, because when you're doing a series, you think about more than just jokes... you know, when you're doing a comedy, you think about what's going to reflect people's experiences, in a way.
I think in 2016 I'm going to focus on performing a lot more and doing as many shows as I can. There's plans to tour more, and that's where my heart is - doing the live shows.
Today I said to the calculus students, "I know, you're looking at this series and you don't see what I'm warning you about. You look and it and you think, 'I trust this series. I would take candy from this series. I would get in a car with this series.' But I'm going to warn you, this series is out to get you. Always remember: The harmonic series diverges. Never forget it."
I keep getting many offers for TV soap operas, and strangely a lot of them are mythological. None seem to be interesting enough or have the budgets that would convince me to accept them.
It just tends to be that the grass is always greener. If I'm doing a movie, I suddenly think, 'Oh God, I wish I could just get a play script I could get my teeth into.' If I'm doing eight shows a week in a West End musical, I think, 'God, how lovely it would be to be in a TV series right now.'
I'm not looking for a series. I love TV. I love developing characters over a long amount of time. I think for an actor it gives you so much material and every season it gives more background and interest and richness. So I would definitely do another series. I'm just waiting for the right thing to come along.
Its really important to have cooperative co-actors when you're working and specially when you are doing a daily soap.
Until now the theory of infinite series in general has been very badly grounded. One applies all the operations to infinite series as if they were finite; but is that permissible? I think not. Where is it demonstrated that one obtains the differential of an infinite series by taking the differential of each term? Nothing is easier than to give instances where this is not so.
I feel blessed to keep my adventurous passion at peak while doing a daily soap.
I would love to see more swings in areas that we haven't explored. I can't necessarily tell you what that is - I think you know it when you see it - but I think we've had a lot of the same-themed shows in broadcast, but those shows are still performing.
The writer's curse is that the more you fall in love with the work you're doing, the more I think it shows.
