There is no dearth of good work or wonderful roles. — © Shefali Shah
There is no dearth of good work or wonderful roles.
For a woman, there is a complete dearth of roles to do. Abroad, you really have good roles, and by good roles, I don't mean the film has to be women oriented. I wouldn't mind playing a well-written, small role.
From the time I entered the industry, I have always been clear about certain things - no short clothes, no kissing, no bikinis. Nobody comes to me with such roles. And I have no dearth of work.
At some point you realize, I have dreams. I would love to be working on wonderful roles, in wonderful films, with people I respect and admire. And that will come in its time. In the meantime, "Pay attention to your work. Get better at what you do." That's my job.
I want to do different kinds of roles and work on good scripts because doing the same kind of roles is boring - both for me and the audience.
Too many people are hungry not because there is dearth of food. It is because there is dearth of love and care in human hearts.
There's a dearth of media around young black women and certainly a dearth of LGBT media for people of color.
I want to find something really wonderful to do next and take my time to search through the dearth of great material, especially for women.
It was certainly a good death scene. I'm endlessly perishing in roles but it's a wonderful thing to be asked to do.
To be an actor you need various things. You need to have a head for choosing the roles. You have to be, hopefully, easy to work with so people enjoy working with you. You have to deal with missing roles, with not being asked to work, with doing good work and then being castigated by the critics for it. You have to have a skin that can deal with all of that. I, fortunately, seem to have the makeup which allows me to deal with the business. I mean, not as everybody.
I'd love to be remembered as a character actor who brought illumination to roles in wonderful plays and who delivered performances that made people think and rethink those roles.
It's fun playing two roles. The roles provide a wonderful range of emotions. Stuart is childlike and sensitive. Adam is ruthless, outrageous. He's flamboyant. He does the unexpected.
I've been very lucky with the roles that I've played in that they were wonderful roles for women. They're incredible, flawed characters that I really gravitate toward. I just never want anybody to be able to put me in a box.
I believe there is no dearth of talent in India. But what's missing is the ability to work hard.
The idea is to choose good roles and good movies. I don't want to act simply to remain in the industry, nor am I here to do glamour roles.
I don't want to do 'Hamlet.' I don't want to do Robert Redford roles or Mel Gibson roles or Kevin Costner roles, because I'm not going to be good at them.
I love to star in movies, but I want to have good roles. It doesn't help to get starring roles in something that's no good. I mean, that will just kill you.
