I think Berklee College of Music had the highest dropout rate of any college - or pretend college - in the United States. Because I think most people think they're going to be in Green Day or whatever, and you actually have to learn about music you don't care for, too. I mean, I cared for a great deal of music; it's just that I didn't want to submerge myself into the well of fusion jazz.
After high school, I moved to the U.S. and studied music in Boston, at the Berklee College of Music.
I didn't try out for bands when I was younger. I got into guitars intensely a couple of years into playing so much by the time I was graduating high school I was accepted into Berklee College of Music.

I want every album and every year to be a period of growth - and exponential growth as to what I'm able to do the each time around. I hope that I can really take my music to a place where it's widely heard and I can be touring and playing shows to bigger audiences.
I still the love classic period, but also the baroque period, and even 17th-Century music such as the music of Monteverdi. He's one of the greatest opera composers. He was the one who really started the opera.
Boston was incredible. I had some of the best experiences of my life there at Berklee because I met a bunch of other people who were at the exact same stage in life and interest as me. There were American and international students all wrapped up in the Berklee environment, where you basically did nothing but music 24/7.

I started out trying to play more straight-ahead jazz. I went to Berklee in the early '60s when it was a brand new school, and so there was no fusion music. There wasn't a lot of mixing together of different kinds of music at that time, so jazz was kind of pure jazz.

One would think that [persecution] would be an obstacle to church growth when joining the church meant a death sentence. And yet, the age of persecution was the greatest period of church growth in history.
I love that period, between the '20s and the '60s. I love doing period pieces, and those eras are my favorite period in time, music wise, and the elegance and the way of being.
