A road well begun is the battle half won. The important thing is to make a beginning and get under way.
When the ancients said a work well begun was half done, they meant to impress the importance of always endeavoring to make a good beginning.
As the proverb says, "a good beginning is half the business" and "to have begun well" is praised by all.
There is an old saying "well begun is half done"-'tis a bad one. I would use instead-Not begun at all 'til half done.
The surprise is half the battle. Many things are half the battle, losing is half the battle. Let's think about what's the whole battle.
At least half of every city is wrong. From latitude 30 degrees to latitude 60, say, you've got to have the long axis of the house facing the sun. If the land is cut up into squares, that makes half of all houses wrong if they face the road. Even houses way in the country, and way off the road, face the bloody road. And from there, you just go wronger all the way.
When you are moving toward an objective," said Petrus, "it is very important to pay attention to the road. It is the road that teaches us the best way to get there, and the road enriches us as we walk its length.
Well begun is half done.
What's well begun is half done.
A well begun is half ended.
I've been on the road since I was 15, in one way or another - on a bus, in a 15-passenger van, pulling a U-haul - so I would be lying if I said sometimes the miles and the road didn't get long. But it's always rewarding, that hour and a half every night you get to stand up there and see it all pay off and feel the love from that crowd.
A work well begun is half-ended.
What if what has been said one time not only does not cease to be said but always recommences, and not only recommences but also imposes upon us the idea that nothing has ever truly begun, having from the beginning begun by beginning again.
It's important to get under your opponent's skin and let them know that you are coming for them out in the middle. When you do that, half the battle's won!
When you make albums like I do, and it's based off fanfare and based off touring - I make these albums, and I get on the road. It's not really a radio-driven thing. I get on the road, and I see my fans, and I touch each and every last one of them.
For us the most important thing is to be visual, and for the cats watching us to have fun. This is all we want. We get very upset if people get bored when we're only half way through smashing the second set.
We struggle with eating healthily, obesity, and access to good nutrition for everyone. But we have a great opportunity to get on the right side of this battle by beginning to think differently about the way that we eat and the way that we approach food.
