A Quote by Stephen Rea

Acting is way of making yourself exist. — © Stephen Rea
Acting is way of making yourself exist.
I think I take away a naturalistic approach to acting from doing 'The Larry Sanders Show,' a way to put aside acting and just exist in the world of what's being handed to me.
It takes so long to write a script, thinking to yourself, "Am I wasting my time? Am I putting everything into this thing that maybe just won't ever exist?" I always think, God, acting is so much easier. At least for acting you have the source material already.
I love acting. Modeling is fun, too, but I feel like there is more room to stretch yourself and open yourself up to new experiences with acting. That's why I got into acting in the first place.
I've always remembered something Sanford Meisner, my acting teacher, told us. When you create a character, it's like making a chair, except instead of making someting out of wood, you make it out of yourself. That's the actor's craft - using yourself to create a character.
Acting is something I appreciate, and I think it's been an amazing experience. But I'm not passionate about acting the way you probably should be to call yourself an actor.
It is a big mistake to think that the best way to express yourself is to do whatever you want, acting as you please. This is not expressing yourself. If you know what to do exactly, and you do it, then you can express yourself fully.
It is easier to act yourself into a new way of feeling than to feel yourself into a new way of acting.
A lot of times, as a clown, you find acting for a reason. It's a way to exercise yourself. If you're funny, you test yourself.
Different scenes call for different acting styles. The kinds of scenes I like most are the ones where you just bury yourself in there. So I wouldn't say that's the only way to be funny, but that's my favorite way to play stuff, to try to put myself in a situation where that kind of acting is necessary.
It's impossible for me to be successful at what I love most, which is acting and making people laugh, without making sure my body is fueled in the right way.
Making films is no longer a way of acting, it is a way of life.
I love acting. It's an interesting challenge to make something that doesn't exist appear like it's happening, and to do it in a real way.
When you are making a success of something, it's not work. It's a way of life. You enjoy yourself because you are making your contribution to the world.
I love acting and making your own luck. You have to recreate yourself, I guess. Although, I don't know how.
Do not say to yourself, 'I am going to act this way tomorrow.' Just say to yourself - 'I am going to imagine myself acting this way NOW - for 30 minutes - today.'
Israel has an absolute right to exist - not only to exist - but to exist in a way that they're not under threat of terrorism.
