You can enjoy stargazing just by going out and learning a couple constellations with your kids.
I've just been watching other people's releases and learning from their mistakes. I know I'm bound to make a couple of my own, but I've got a couple ideas that I think are going to help get it out.
I enjoy the competition and the process of learning as we compete. The whole thing is just fascinating. I don't know what I'll do when I retire. When I go sailing, I look around ... anyone want to race? I just love competing as opposed to just going out and watching the sunset.
You don't need Little League. You don't even need nine kids. Four is plenty-a pitcher, a batter, and a couple of shaggers. You can play ball all day long. My kids used to try to get me out there, but I'd just say, "Go play with your brothers." If kids want to do something, they'll do it. They don't need adults to do it for them.
I don't advertise what I do to my kids. I don't go around waving a flag. I'm sure they are proud, in a certain way. I'm not like 'hey kids - check this out.' No matter what they do, your dad is still your dad. Nothing is going to help you out in that regard. Dad is just not cool.
Any kids out there, don't base your homework on 'Merlin.' Just enjoy it and then read the books.
These past couple of years have been about learning to not sabotage myself in a subtler way - for instance, even just by putting moisturiser on when I get out of the shower. Learning to honour myself and believing that I'm worth taking care of.
I don't go out to enjoy myself: I enjoy myself when I'm learning in training, but I don't enjoy the 90 minutes I spend out on the pitch during a game.
I have all my tricks to unplugging. Sometimes I just close my eyes and I breathe a couple of times, even if I'm in the middle of a conversation. It centers me. Dancing also helps me to unplug, so does writing music. I really enjoy going to Central Park and Upstate New York, when I really want to unplug from the city. Going to the library is great, too. There's just a nice equality about libraries, there's everyone from kids to senior citizens to students, it's a nice environment. I grab whatever book I feel attracted to and then I just sit there and read it for a little while.
I think going on the road for a couple games, I always feel it's better to go out for a couple games than just one game and come back. The out-and-backs, to me, are not my favorites.
Honestly, it takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice. When I was trying to get better a couple years ago, I was not going out. I had a couple of people get mad at me. I wasn't going out and partying, I was just doing what I had to do to get better.
Not being known doesn't stop the truth from being true. You are led through your lifetime by the inner learning creature, the playful spiritual being that is your real self. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly. Learning is finding out what we already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers and teachers. The best way to pay for a lovely moment is to enjoy it.
The only time I mind autographs is when I'm out with my family. You're trying to enjoy kids and grandkids and here comes a swarm, and there go your wife and kids. That happens to every celebrity. It's the price you pay.
I think it doesn't really matter what you do for a career, that breakfast routine - get the kids ready, off to school and out the house - if you can have something in the fridge that you know and trust, and that you know your kids enjoy it then it makes your life so much easier.
There are going to be peaks and valleys in everything - in your marriage, in your job, in your life. So just enjoy the peaks and ride out the valleys. Just try not to do anything too rash.
With any actor, rather than tips, I think when you enjoy working with somebody and you enjoy what they do, I think your reaction is partly to be doing what they're doing, so you're learning all the time, whether it be sub-consciously or whether it be just through the person you enjoy working with.
The whole idea is just to continue to make movies that I enjoy playing and that audiences are going to enjoy me in... just to put out quality on a lot of different levels.
