Faffing, of course, does not fit the programme. We are supposed to be busy, productive citizens. — © Tom Hodgkinson
Faffing, of course, does not fit the programme. We are supposed to be busy, productive citizens.
Faffing of course does not fit the programme. We are supposed to be busy, productive citizens.
Faffing is good. It is an important part of life. Faffing is when we disconnect from the matrix and idle for a while, like a car. Our body and spirit know deep down that human beings were not made for constant toil so subconsciously creates space through the mechanism of faffing.
I support a very active programme on disarmament and arms control for Iraq, and of course every other country in the world... That does not require economic sanctions...I think we've got to take the risk and give up economic sanctions while hanging on to the disarmament programme and allow the Iraqis to get on with rebuilding their country.
In a democracy, the citizens are supposed to have all the power, and the government is supposed to be the means by which the citizens exercise that power. But when you have a surveillance state, the state has all the power, and citizens have very little.
It is not enough to be busy we must be productive. Everyone can account for every hour of the day but that does not mean anything was accomplished of value.
Nowadays, people don't ask you how you are, they say, 'Are you busy?' meaning, 'Are you well?' If someone actually does ask you how you are, the most cheerful answer, of course, is a robust 'Busy!' to which the person will reply 'Good!'
Being busy and being productive are not necessarily the same. Many people keep busy to avoid taking action on things they're afraid to pursue.
Does Grandpa love to baby-sit his grandchildren? Are you kidding? By day he is too busy taking hormone shots at the doctor's or chip shots on the golf course. At night he and Grandma are too busy doing the cha-cha.
He who learns but does not think, is lost! He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger... Men of superior mind busy themselves first getting at the root of things; when they succeed, the right course is open to them.
The United States of America is supposed to be a free country, and its law enforcement is supposed to exist to protect and serve its citizens.
Governments regard their own citizens as their main enemy, and they have to be - protect themselves. That's why you have state secret laws. Citizens are not supposed to know what their government is doing to them.
Focus on being productive instead of busy.
Provision of best services to the citizens is our top priority, and Punjab government has evolved a coordinated programme in this regard.
Most governments want their citizens to be part of the financial system, to be productive citizens as a result of having access to be able to manage and move money in a seamless way. But the traditional financial services infrastructure is not designed to handle that because, predominantly, it's an expensive infrastructure.
Democracy does not require perfect equality, but it does require that citizens share a common life. What matters is that people of different backgrounds and social positions encounter one another, and bump up against one another, in the course of ordinary life.
There's this myth that women are supposed to compete with each other or something, or we're supposed to hate each other, and that's totally not productive.
