I love Hawaii. I really enjoy surfing in Oahu, and Waianae is such a great area. And Maui - I like Maui a lot, too.
My favorite place is Maui. It's almost perfect there - the people, the weather, just everything. No matter how busy you are, when you get to Maui, you chill and relax.
There are stories of Maui everywhere in the South Pacific. They're different. Different areas have different interpretations. But and so we [with John Musker] fashioned, that was kind of the inspiration and we came up with a very simple basic storyline, focusing on Maui.
I come to Maui and go surfing, standup paddling, slacklining, swimming, and free-diving.
Although both of us were raised on Oahu, in Honolulu, my mother has always had fond memories of Maui; this was, after all, where she and my father, then penniless yet oddly optimistic newlyweds, honeymooned in 1969.
I love Maui.
The best part about Maui is that I can spend a lot of time outside. My off-season is April, May, and June.
If I'm in Maui, I play soccer and tennis and go kite-surfing. I prefer doing a sport as opposed to going to a gym. I'm not big on gyms. When I did 'Rampart,' I lost 30 pounds because I felt it was better for the character. I worked out constantly, maybe twice a day, and minimized caloric intake.
There was a summer during which the whole South Shore of Oahu, you could see the bleached coral almost across all of the surfing spots. And so it's gone from an issue that only environmentalists cared about to an issue that almost everybody in the state of Hawaii cares about, because it's really affecting our quality of life.
Maui reminded me of San Diego: beautiful, but crowded.
I was born in Honduras, and everything there is really chill, and people don't worry about having to get something overnighted by FedEx. Maui has that same sort of vibe, but everyone speaks English.
I would rather spend one day on Maui than 30 days in the hospital.
I would rather live one day in Maui than one month in New York.
I'm a farmer! We have a farm that's part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden on Maui, and we raise macadamia nuts.
Expanding your notion of fun beyond a two-week vacation in Maui increases the chances you'll have more of it.
The speed limit on most of Maui's highways is forty miles per hour, but my mother never went above thirty.
I've seen whales calving in the waters off Maui, and I've watched my children being born. But music is the most beautiful thing of all.
