Don't call me a hero. I would prefer myself being called as an actor. — © Vijay Antony
Don't call me a hero. I would prefer myself being called as an actor.
I do go back to Ireland, and I'll probably be doing a film in Ireland in January, and I guess that kind of keeps me classified as 'the Irish actor,' but the last four or five projects that I've been in are either American or English, so I don't feel terribly trapped in that. But sometimes, yeah, you would like to not be called 'the Irish actor.' You'd prefer to just be called 'the actor.'
You could call me antisocial, I've called myself that sometimes too, but I just prefer to be alone, and that's nothing against you.
I'm not the kind of actor who runs around and insists on being called Stravinsky by everybody, and my family has to call me Igor. I'm not that kind of actor. I think that's pretentious.
My dream was I was going to be an actor. Racism occurred to me. It dawned on me that I would not be an actor. It occurred to me that I was not white. It occurred to me that being what they call colored, being a Negro, was some kind of a disadvantage.
I've called myself an actor - I won't say I've been an actor, but I've called myself an actor - since 1989. That's when I moved to Los Angeles.
I really would not call myself a fashion icon. I would call myself somebody who gets dressed by professionals...I would call me more of a monkey.
Some call me director, producer, filmmaker. I prefer to call myself pube-king.
I am not a method actor. I would call myself a spontaneous actor.
I've actually tried not to call myself a futurist for the last 25 years. I prefer "forecaster," but people call me a futurist, and it doesn't really bother me.
In feature films, I used to be the hero's friend, a regular character. In short films, I played the hero; I got roles where I could work on my character and performance. They made me aware of myself as an actor.
I never really thought of myself as being an action hero or a leading man, or any of that. I'm a character actor.
I never really thought of myself as being an action hero or a leading man or any of that. I'm a character actor.
As an actor, particularly because I'm - I would call myself a character actor. I change my look, my physical appearance and my body, my hair color, my whatever all the time for a role.
It's nice to have a few names. I use a few names myself. I use a few different surnames. I call myself James sometimes. I actually use my mother's name as a professional name. But if someone calls me Mr. Murphy or Mr. Gillen, I don't like that. I don't like being called 'mister,' and I don't like being called 'sir.'
Between a dead-hero and a living-no one, always prefer the latter, always prefer the life! Being no one is infinitely better than being dead!
I'm not ashamed in the least bit of being gay or being a lesbian. I just prefer to call myself gay for some reason.
