I am thankful that I played the game at a time when the West Indies climbed to heights that have never been repeated.
I grew up at a time when West Indies dominated the world. For 15 years from 1980, the West Indies never lost a Test series.
When I played cricket for the West Indies, I never worried. I never really watched anyone else. I had a job to do, and I tried to do it to the best of my ability.
I really enjoyed the period in which I played my cricket. I can look back now and wish I started 10 years later and played in the T20s. But I also wish I was born 10 years earlier so that I could have been part of the all-conquering West Indies team of that time.
It has been a great honour to play for the West Indies, to hold a bat and to spend 17 years in international cricket. That is something I am proud of.
Clearly the West Indies are going to play their normal game, which is what they normally do
I am constantly thankful. The world is so beautiful, I am thankful. I have endless energy, I am thankful. I am plugged into the source of Universal Supply, I am thankful. I am plugged into the source of Universal Truth, I am thankful. I have this constant feeling of thankfulness, which is a prayer.
I am always committed to West Indies cricket.
I have played in the West for 14 years. I played against Dustin Byfuglien a lot. So it's not like I've been out East for my whole career and never played against the guy. That may have been blown out of proportion, I think.
I never faked anything. I never played the Disney game of smiling and being a princess and then suddenly having a hard time, saying, 'That isn't who I really am.'
I never faked anything. I never played the Disney game of smiling and being a princess and then suddenly having a hard time, saying, "That isn't who I really am.
The West has never been all of the world that matters. The West has not been the only actor on the stage of modern history even at the peak of the West's power (and this peak has perhaps now already been passed)... It has not been the West that has been hit by the world; it has been the world that has been hit - and hit hard - by the West.
I am thankful for all the blessings and talents I have been given, but most of all I am thankful for my loving and supportive family.
My whole obligation was to West Indies cricket. As I have always said, 'I have never made a run for me.'
The West Indies team I played for in the 1970s and 80s was truly blessed to have so many brilliant individuals in one group. We had many great fast bowlers but the deadliest was my fellow Antiguan Andy Roberts.
Cricket is my life and it has been since the age of five so the first opportunity I get, I'll be back playing for West Indies.
Until we can get people who are willing to play for West Indies in the right way, I think that we're going to be struggling for a long time.
