Imposing limitations on yourself is cowardly because it protects you from having to try, and perhaps failing.
Passing out while you try to kill yourself is like failing at failing.
Human beings thrive on imagination and pushing boundaries and limitations. Imposing limits when we don't actually have any true idea of what's possible is like imposing a steel trap over the mind.
A lot of people put a lot of restrictions on their ability to develop. And that's fine for you if that's what you feel your limitations are, but I think it's wrong when you assume someone is not natural because you are imposing your limitations on someone else.
I don't mind failing, because I see it as an opportunity to try again and eventually succeed. Having this attitude and sharing it with young girls encourages them.
In the mornings, I try to spend anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes with my son. Failing that, I try for 30 to 60 minutes together at the end of the day. I try to make that work, but if I can't, I just move on. You can't beat yourself up about it.
I do try to watch it. I'm not saying you have to put yourself on a diet, because I hate the word "diet." But it's more of, like, having a balanced lifestyle makes me feel better. I try to do one to two days with no meat. I try to lessen my gluten. Those are things that I struggle with.
When you recognize that failing doesn't make you a failure, you give yourself permission to try all sorts of things.
Why has mankind had such a craving to be imposed upon? Why this lust after imposing creeds, imposing deeds, imposing buildings, imposing language, imposing works of art? The thing becomes an imposition and a weariness at last. Give us things that are alive and flexible, which won't last too long and become an obstruction and a weariness. Even Michelangelo becomes at last a lump and a burden and a bore. It is so hard to see past him.
To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. When you are born a lotus flower, be a beautiful lotus flower, don't try to be a magnolia flower. If you crave acceptance and recognition and try to change yourself to fit what other people want you to be, you will suffer all your life. True happiness and true power lie in understanding yourself, accepting yourself, having confidence in yourself.
Clearly understand that the only limitations you will ever have are the limitations you impose upon yourself. You truly do have infinite potential.
Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try. ---in Good Housekeeping
'Bad' health, in a thousand different forms, is used as an excuse for failing to do what a person wants to do, failing to accept greater responsibilities, failing to make more money, failing to achieve success.
I think as an actor, you're constantly putting yourself out there, and a lot of times failing - and failing in front of a bunch of people - and sometimes you have a good moment and something clicks.
A lifevest protects you from drowning and a bulletproof vest protects you from getting shot, and a sweater vest protects you from pretty girls.
The most successful people reach the top not because they are free of limitations, but because they act in spite of their limitations
I admire how she protects her energy and understands her limitations.
