Inactivity strikes us as intelligent behavior. — © Warren Buffett
Inactivity strikes us as intelligent behavior.
When new turns of behavior cease to appear in the life of the individual, its behavior ceases to be intelligent.
When the lightning strikes one of us, it strikes both
Confession: When I went to see The Empire Strikes Back I found myself glancing at my watch. The Force is with us, indeed, and a lot of it is hot air. It's a measure of my mixed feelings about The Empire Strikes Back that I'm not at all sure that I understand the plot. The Empire Strikes Back is about as personal as a Christmas card from a bank.
I have four strikes against me. I'm black, I'm short, I'm intelligent, and I have a medical condition.
I urge people not to think in terms of "solutions," but in terms of intelligent responses to the quandaries and predicaments that we face. And there are intelligent responses that we can bring forth. But when I hear the word "solution," I always suspect that there's a hidden agenda there. And the hidden agenda is: "Please, can you please tell us how we can keep on living exactly the way we're living now, without having to really change our behavior very much?" And that's sort of what's going on in this country. And it's not going to work.
Over time it's going to be important for nations to know they will be held accountable for inactivity. You're either with us or against us in the fight against terror.
Intelligent life can't be all that common because it's really rare on Earth and especially since we define ourselves to be intelligent. But in the eyes of an alien coming here who has the technology to make it here, they might observe us and conclude that there's no sign of intelligent life on Earth.
Remember that the animals and plants have no M.P. they can write to; they can't perform sit-down strikes or, indeed, strikes of any sort; they have nobody to speak for them except us, the human beings who share the world with them but do not own it.
My friends, I tell you repeatedly that the illusion that Life creates is very, very intelligent. The illusion itself is intelligent! Just understand how intelligent the intelligence must be in order to create an intelligent illusion. The intelligent illusion is so intelligent it will appear real to man every moment of his daily life!
The providence of God does not relieve us of our human responsibility: it doesn't call for inactivity, it calls for activity.
The human race does not have a very good record of intelligent behavior.
Simple, clear purpose and principles give rise to complex intelligent behavior. Complex rules and regulations give rise to simple stupid behavior.
Behavior is a virus. We spread our behavior to those around us, whether passively or on purpose.
Egocentrism appears to us as a form of behavior intermediate between purely individual and socialized behavior.
We have to be able to adapt to new situation. It's another form of the definition of intelligent behavior.
There are absolutely ways to manipulate behavior, because our behavior is endlessly being manipulated by the world around us.
