Learning to be an effective leader is no different than learning to be an effective person. And that's the hard part
I would assert that highly effective leaders are made more than they're born. Every leader I know who's been highly effective has worked hard at it, and they've been students of it. The more you're a student of leadership, the more you figure out what works for you and the more effective you're going to be.
The word constructionism is a mnemonic for two aspects of the theory of science education underlying this project. From constructivist theories of psychology we take a view of learning as a reconstruction rather than as a transmission of knowledge. Then we extend the idea of manipulative materials to the idea that learning is most effective when part of an activity the learner experiences as constructing a meaningful product.
Learning is more effective when it is an active rather than a passive process.
A free curiosity is more effective in learning than a rigid discipline.
Entertainment and learning are not opposites; entertainment may be the most effective mode of learning.
Gov. Romney is a proven and effective leader with vast experience in the business world, in the non-profit world and in government. And in every capacity in which he has ever served, he has been effective as a leader.
We hope that there will be nothing that conflicts with anybody's religion or faith. We would never say a person's religion is not effective. We say, 'Would you be interested in something more effective?' We always put things in an optimistic, progressive perspective. 'Do you want to make your prayers more effective? Not that they are not effective, but do you want to help them become more effective?'
Schools must inquire deeper into their own practices, explore new ways to motivate their learners, make use of learning styles, introduce multiple intelligences, integrate learning, and teach thinking, and in the process discover the passion and moral purpose that makes teaching exciting and effective.
No doubt a leader or leaders can make that culture more effective or less effective, by the way that we behave. Most importantly, but also by what we say, what we stress, what we reward.
All stress inhibits true and effective learning.
Hearing alone is less effective in learning God's truth than hearing combined with reading.
Maybe learning how to be out in the big world isn't the epic journey everyone thinks it is. Maybe that's actually the easy part. The hard part is what's right in front of you. The hard part is learning how to hold the title to your very existence, to own not only property, but also your life.
The road to learning by precept is long, but by example short and effective.
In my opinion, being an effective leader requires being an effective listener. The most productive leaders are usually those who are consistently willing to listen and learn.
Professional/personal coaching addresses the whole person - with an emphasis on producing action and uncovering learning that can lead to more fulfillment, more balance, and a more effective process for living.
Obama quickly became an effective advocate for the view that government is a critical part of the solution to society's problems. So effective that he won reelection in the midst of a struggling economy.
