Everyone loves to complain that there are no real bands on MTV, yet no one wants to step up to the plate and try to change that.
We as African Americans knew that if we wanted to see change, we had to step up to the plate and make that change ourselves. Not everyone comes to that realization in their lives, but thank God Linda Brown's father felt that way.
A lot of people complain about yesterday. We have no power to change yesterday. But this very day, 30 years later, is what we can control and decide. Change yourself, take baby steps, and stay determined for ten years. I thank the times of change and everyone’s complaints. Because when everyone is complaining, that is your chance, an opportunity. It’s only in times of change that someone can be clear of what he has and wants, and what he needs to give up.
Our generation has an incredible amount of realism, yet at the same time it loves to complain and not really change. Because, if it does change, then it won't have anything to complain about.
When people meet me, I hope that they say this: 'This is a guy who, number one, loves the Lord, but he also loves people, and he wants to make a difference in people's life. And he wants to help everyone he comes in contact with, and he is genuine, he is real, and he cares about people.'
Everyone is going to have to step up to the plate.
When you're on MTV Asia, you're like royalty. When you walk down the streets of the Philippines or Indonesia, everyone wants to try to touch you.
As someone who has been a Marine, how do you change things? You step up to the plate. And you are the one who says put me in.
A man who wants to die feels angry and full of life and desperate and bored and exhausted, all at the same time; he wants to fight everyone, and he wants to curl up in a ball and hide in a cupboard somewhere. He wants to say sorry to everyone, and he wants everyone to know just how badly they've all let him down.
I try to always step up to the plate, be professional, be good at what I'm doing and deliver on the character. In Hollywood, what more can you ask for. You want a consummate professional.
I try to do two things: locate my fastball and change speeds. That's it. I try to keep as simple as possible. I just throw my fastball (to) both sides of the plate and change speed every now and then. There is no special food or anything like that, I just try to make quality pitches and try to be prepared each time I go out there.
Not everyone is going to love you. Not everyone is going to like what you do, and you see a lot of people don't want to let go of the bands that they love. They don't want to move forward. They don't want to let new things come in; they're scared of change. They're scared of new bands taking over their genre. They're just scared of change.
All I can do is as well as I can in the Champions League then just wait and see what happens. I'm looking forward to it just as much as everyone else. It is a great platform for all of us to show what we are about, to step up to the plate.
Everyone wants to make the Olympics. Everyone wants to pretty much just play on the team or at least try out.
Everybody wants to change the world. But I guess how we want to change it is a little bit more quietly than other bands.
Step by step, let whatever happens happen. Real change will come when it is brought about, not by your ego, but by reality. Awareness releases reality to change you.
People in bands should have a responsibility not to moan, not to complain about being in bands. Things could be a lot worse, you know?
