You've got to earn way to a title shot.
I'm not going to change who I am or the way I promote fights just to get a title shot, but I think I've done plenty to earn that shot.
The title shot, the way I look at it is I just have to go out there and do my job. If I keep winning fights, there's no way they can't give me that title shot.
You earn the title 'parent.' I have done absolutely nothing to earn that title.
It makes me very, very happy to get someone a world title shot, which I've done with a few fighters, or a European title shot or a British title, and I see them lift that belt above their waist and they come to me and say 'Thanks Ricky. I've just paid my mortgage off with that.' That's what its all about.
And it was the title August 13th for most of the way and then near the end, sometime in the process, I got the idea that maybe that would be a somewhat bland title and I got the idea for wild gratitude, which I'm very proud of as a title. So, I think it works best when you find it in the process.
In MMA it’s a lot less intimidating because it’s not like you get one shot at a title every four years. You get a title shot every couple of months ... With the Olympics, you don’t always have this, so there is so much more pressure involved.

I got to a point I was so focused on getting a title shot all the thought in my head was to go out there and win at all costs, so maybe it made me fight a certain way, maybe take a lot of risks and stuff like that.
When I got shot I wasn't like 'yes' I got shot, now I can say that in my raps, when I got shot I said 'ouch'.
Everyone should go up there and fight. Go up there and go through opponents and earn their opportunity to fight for the title, not talk their way into the title.
I think any time you get the chance to represent the title and to earn the title, you learn how to represent it in the best way. You learn how to wear it with honor, fight for it with honor and really become the face of WWE for the Divas.
I'm fighting for the Commonwealth title on Saturday and I believe I'll be ready for a world title shot in the next 18 months.
Now I've got near the top, I can see the games that people play. I thought everyone wanted to fight the best, and earn title shots, but it's not like that.
I beat Ryan Bader, and that beautiful knockout got me a shot at the title. That's the kind of thing that puts you close to the top.
If you're out for two years, and you beat one guy with a full-time job, without disrespect, but we're talking about fighting for a world title. You can't just beat a guy that went there to cover some guy that got injured, and then this guy, after two and a half years, gets a title shot.
An interim title is just a guarantee at a title shot. If I'm going to fight the best guys in the world, I want a guarantee that I'm going to fight for the title.
