I'm just concerned with winning, not individual accolades.
I understood even in college, when you win as a team, everyone gets their own accolades, individual accolades.
Those kind of accolades, the individual accolades are something that you can hang our hat on when it's all said and done.
I'm sure personal accolades are nice and you appreciate them very much. But it's about winning Cups and winning Olympics and winning World Cups and that kind of thing.
I don't believe being a Hall of Famer is based on individual accolades. I think winning has a lot to do with it. But perhaps more than that, you simply have to show that you are the best or among the best at what you do.
I don't pay attention to accolades or any of that stuff because I think it can serve as a distraction, so for me, I just focus on winning games, trying to make the playoffs.
As you progress towards enlightenment you will find that you become a winner at anything, not because you are so concerned about winning anymore. You are just concerned about the pursuit of excellence.
All the accolades that came my way winning Player of the Year, being top goalscorer all those things that happened, individually to me and collectively as a team, just made it very special.
I've never been a person that was concerned about accolades or the media embracing me.
I've had a lot of accolades throughout my career, but that hasn't really changed me. I know that comes with the winning.
It's very easy to quantify performances and personal accolades, but ultimately, I'm in a team sport, and it's about winning.
I'm a firm believer that individual accolades are a bit overrated in this game.
If I have team-mates who can win individual accolades, then I will do everything to help them.
I can say all of the goals I want individually, but if we make the playoffs those individual accolades will come.
I feel that single mommies don't get enough praise and accolades. I've had first-hand experience. My mother was a single mom. As far as I'm concerned, mommies, in general, rule the world. And single mothers just take it to a whole other level.
Scientists are not movie stars or politicians who will feel insulted if they are not showered with accolades. Scientists are not interested in accolades.
If you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.
