Im still getting used to being called a composer. A poseur, maybe. — © Dhani Harrison
Im still getting used to being called a composer. A poseur, maybe.
I'm still getting used to being called a composer. A poseur, maybe.
Im like any other composer. If you give me five years to write a symphony, Im still going to be asking for more time two days before its due.
If Im honest, the reason I got into acting is not the reason Im still doing it, and if Im still doing it in ten years time, Im sure Ill find something else.
Maybe someday you can accuse somebody of being a poseur by selling out and playing blues music, but that's just not going to happen in my lifetime.
I was sort of getting used to being a single mom, maybe a little too used to it.
I dont think of myself as being troubled as a human being, but I guess Im quite extreme, quite big and quite loud, and maybe people pick up on that when they cast me. Im certainly not the quiet reflective type.
In India, I have been called a 'destroyer.' But that is only because they mixed my identity as a performer and as a composer. As a composer I have tried everything, even electronic music and avant-garde. But as a performer I am, believe me, getting more classical and more orthodox, jealously protecting the heritage that I have learned.
Im still getting more familiar with the plays and different things, but I think that will come along with getting more experience and getting to know the guys better.
If a composer could state in words what being a composer means, he would no longer need to be a composer.
Composer” is a word which here means “a person who sits in a room, muttering and humming and figuring out what notes the orchestra is going to play.” This is called composing. But last night, the Composer was not muttering. He was not humming. He was not moving, or even breathing. This is called decomposing.
I wanted to be a composer for a while, and for a while, and maybe still, I found writing music much easier than writing poetry. So maybe my brain clings to it.
Being a New Yorker, I used to dance to Latin music. There was a place called the Palladium on Broadway. And Tito Puente and Tito Rodriguez used to play. So I still have that in my blood.
These are times when what used to be called liberal is now called radical; what used to be called radical is now called insane; what used to be called reactionary is now called moderate; and what used to be called insane is now called solid, neo-conservative thinking.
I think the public still isn't aware of the frequency with which the cyber-attacks, as they're being called in the press, are being used by governments around the world, not just the US.
I thought the playing time I was getting during the season was getting me ready for the playoffs. When it didn't happen and Coach Riley never told me why, I thought, 'Maybe I'm just being used as a pawn in the game.'
I've been called a minimalist composer for more than 30 years, and while I've never really agreed with the description, I've gotten used to it.
