Sometimes holding on was all you could do. — © Kristin Hannah
Sometimes holding on was all you could do.
Steadfastness, that is holding on; patience, that is holding back; expectancy, that is holding the face up; obedience, that is holding one's self in readiness to go or do; listening, that is holding quiet and still so as to hear.
When you fly to New York, sometimes they put you on hold and you just go round and around in a holding pattern. Sometimes in a concert, I feel other spirits in a holding pattern that they want to land through my heart and through my fingers.
Sometimes, it's hard holding back the truth, how you really feel, and sometimes the best way is let it out and move forward.
That's sort of what I try to do with music: to harness whatever energy is already there and see where that momentum takes me. Sometimes you're spinning that oncoming momentum in a different direction, or sometimes you're coercing it to consider itself, or sometimes you're holding it up to a mirror. Going from 'Shark Night' to 'Piranha,' a guy holding a fish on a stick in front of you that they're going to replace in post-production, it's a lot different than seeing this animatronic shark that, if you get caught up in the moment, looks, acts and you sometimes think could be real.
Sometimes you have to let go to see if there was anything worth holding onto.
Sometimes I think my whole life has been about holding on to you.
Keep holding on, cause you know we'll make it through. We'll make it through. Just stay strong, cause you know I'm here for you. I'm here for you. There's nothing you could say. Nothing you could do. There's no other way when it comes to the truth, but keep holding on, cause you know we'll make it through.
I feel that sometimes, holding yourself as black, saying that is your sole identity, can sometimes stand in your way of being a member of the humanity of man, being a member of the family of the divine.
Moments are precious, sometimes they linger and other times they're fleeing, and yet so much could be done in them; you could change a mind, you could save a life and you could even fall in love.
Life is not a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes, playing a poor hand well.
And I could see this boy doing his homework and thinking about my sister naked. And I could see them holding hands at football games that they do not watch. And I could see this boy throwing up in the bushes at a party house. And I could see my sister putting up with it. And I felt very bad for both of them.
