Sometimes to rest, even to watch your team-mates from the bench, is not too bad. It is part of the game and you try to be fresh when you come on the pitch.
If I go on to the pitch, do things well and the fans love me and my team-mates, too, we take on that energy which can change a game.
But I just try to do my best. I don't know if my game can influence the game of the team and how we play, but I just try to help with my football, for my team-mates and the club.
It's very important to go pitch-by-pitch and game-by-game and not getting too far ahead of myself. In the past, it was trying to make up for a bad game and thinking ahead and what do I have to do to fix this.
You will make a mistake in a game, fair enough, but you want your team-mates to help you out because it is a team game.
I have my way of doing things, because I am that way, I try to raise my voice to motivate team-mates and make them aware that if they lose a ball it is not a problem, so I try to motivate my team-mates and to speak to them and, because I see the game from the back I see everything in front of me; communication on the field can help a lot.
I will do anything a team asks me to do. If it's to come off the bench, I would impact the game by coming off the bench. If I were to start, I would impact the game as a starter. I would impact the game either way.
Even if I'm the 15th man on the bench, the first man off the bench, or I'm starting, I'm still part of that team.
Tactics are so important because everybody has to know what they have to do on the pitch. The relationships and behaviours off the pitch between team-mates have to be as good as possible.
A lot of times, I've always looked at pitching in the All-Star Game as a prelude to how you pitch in the postseason, sometimes how you might have to pitch on two days' rest out of the pen, only throw one inning and then you have to go face the best hitters. That's what you do in the All-Star Game.
Whoever is on the bench always says he isn't playing enough. I work hard and try to do my best. And I try to show on the pitch, even when I only get five minutes, that I can do something.
I try my best, and I want to help my team-mates every game.
Sometimes I score, sometimes I don't, so people are here to judge, but I know my qualities, and I try to give everything to win and help my team-mates.
Obviously, I don't go into a game not wanting to do well. I go into every game to try to do my best for my team-mates and the club.
We watch so much film, calling up pitch by pitch, count by count in order to spot tendencies. Technology is a big part of how I get ready for a game. What's funny is a lot of the NFL guys say they study the 'Madden' game; that's how they learn to read offenses and defenses.
Of course, I enjoy assisting my team-mates because playing no.10 is the position you have to serve your team-mates.
You play your surroundings. You pitch accordingly. Not that I drastically try to change my game plan based on the score or the team or stadium, but you have to take everything into consideration.
