A Quote by Stephen Covey

When the external factors over which one has no control in a way start to become negative, it starts to affect our creative juices. — © Stephen Covey
When the external factors over which one has no control in a way start to become negative, it starts to affect our creative juices.
So I think the biggest thing that I've learnt in my career is not allowing external factors to determine my self-worth - external factors being what coaches think of me, the amount of playing time I get - not allowing those things that actually are out of my control affect how I feel about myself.
When my creative side isn't being fulfilled, I see it affect me in a negative way and I'm not able to become that father/husband/man that I want to be. So it's almost like this dark half that you have to satiate in order to become full, in order to become a good person.
If you get too engrossed and involved and concerned in regard to things over which you have no control, it will adversely affect the things over which you have control.
Hip Hop has become real constrained. The creative juices and creative flows have been diminished.
I think it starts to feel really redundant when you start to do something the same way over and over again. I don't think it's good to become so dependent on a certain writing process.
Resilience is the maintenance of high levels of positive affect and well-being in the face of adversity. It is not that resilient individuals never experience negative affect, but rather that the negative affect does not persist.
'Adbusters' is my favourite reading material, so as soon as you go there, the synapses start firing in a different way. You start taking on things that sometimes I feel are out of our control. That's what basically fuels my creative side.

I go to bed late. My mind starts going at night - that's when those creative juices begin flowing.
Life hinges on many factors we cannot control. Two of the most important factors, we can control. We can manage our relationships-and what is life but a series of relationships?-and we can correct our mistakes, here on earth within our life span.
There are two big forces at work, external and internal. We have very little control over external forces such as tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, disasters, illness and pain. What really matters is the internal force. How do I respond to those disasters? Over that I have complete control.
Solar flares affect our everyday lives in all kinds of mundane ways. They affect satellites, they affect our emotions, and so on, but they also affect the nature of the light that is coming to us, which is kind of the way that the DNA unfolds. And on those levels hardly anyone really understands all of this, and I don't either. I just know that what is going on in the Sun is very important.
I've seen many of my contemporaries become superstars, and the way fame and fortune starts to really affect the way they treat other people, and I think it's ugly.
Dictatorships start wars because they need external enemies to exert internal control over their own people.
You get a little older, and you start understanding the world in a different way and what you don't have control over and what you do have control over.
When the opportunity is there, you have to let your creative juices start flowing and reach and grab for it.
