I particularly like to travel for work because you see a completely different side of the country you're visiting.
Colombians are sick of 'Narcos' stories because Colombia is a country that has changed so much. It's a country that's completely different from the country that we see in 'Narcos.' They reconstructed themselves in 25 years, which is amazing.
When you have an American mother from the Midwest and an Egyptian father, you travel back and forth and see such completely different stories in the news about the exact same events. It makes you think, 'How is anybody able to understand or even have a dialogue when the basis of information is just so completely different?'
In a country like India, the British were only able to rule the country because it had completely co-opted the elite of the country, who did their work for them.
Because of work, I travel a lot, and because of that, I can experience different cultures and see and talk to a lot of different people, so I get inspired by that a lot.
Acting is interesting because you get to be involved in different stories and get to work with different people. Also, acting allows one to be a part of different stories, travel to different parts of the country and all the experiences put together make life interesting.
If people can see Earth from up here, see it without those borders, see it without any differences in race or religion, they would have a completely different perspective. Because when you see it from that angle, you cannot think of your home or your country. All you can see is one Earth...
I love travel. There's nothing more beneficial than getting to travel, to see different cultures, to see different environments and expose your children to that.
Move to a new country and you quickly see that visiting a place as a tourist, and actually moving there for good, are two very different things.
I think Africa is the most interesting continent on the planet. You look at a country like Egypt, and you look at a country like Ghana. It's just completely different, and the people look completely different. It's just a fascinating continent with the most culture.
Italians don't have a unique style like France or Spain or Germany or the UK, it's different everywhere you go. The style of the girl in Milan is really architectural and modern. In Naples it's a completely different style, it's more dark. I'm sure our style was more precise in the past in the '50s or '60s where everything was very Sophia Loren. It's weird because obviously outside of Italy you think of one country, but when you're in the country you know how different the country is from the north to the center to the south to the island. There are so many differences.
When you travel like I do, just within our own country the atmosphere is different. The environment is different; the way people talk is different. The energy is different. And that's just material-wise, with the local culture.
Of course there were times, particularly when you travel, when it's very tough to leave the kids, particularly when they were very young. I would try to take them with me when I could just so they could experience and see a little bit of what a work day involved.
A lot of my travel is at least partly work, visiting schools and libraries, especially in France.
My friends were raised by their maids. They didn't see their fathers, who used to travel for work, and there were facades of family vacations. I have grown up to be completely intolerant of fake relationships. That's because of how my parents were.
The monsoon is such a dominant part of Indian life that it is hard to overstate its importance. One's life completely changes based on the rain. After the monsoon, because the dust settles, one can see further and so it feels like one's eyesight has improved or that one is living in a different country where there is more light.
Driving for Ferrari is completely different. Not in the way you work, the way of working is similar in whatever team you go - especially in the top teams. But it's different because it's like a religion.
